Why do we vomit carrots when we are sick?
I know this kinda a manky question but it has always puzzled me - because i know when you throw up you always throw up carrots even if you havent had carrots for a couple of days. So where do they come from? My mates asked me before and i didnt know do you?
Answers:
Root vegetables don't take longer for the stomach acid to break down, in fact most of our food is reduced to the mush when it returns as you talk to god down the great white telephone, including carrots, Swede, parsnips etc which are more hardy.
The "diced carrots" commonly found in vomit are actually parts of the stomach wall lining. Vomiting is such a violent process that bits of it come off.
i dont think they're really carrots. i think its just the natural colour of your or everyone's vomit, unless of course you've thoroughly looked through your vomit and know for definite that they are carrots, especially because you've tasted them.
why dont you throw in why does we poo sweetcorn too lol. anyways i dont know maybe they lay dormant in your gut for a long time im not sure
oh

i have been wondering the answer for this for practically my whole life. everyone always gets pieces of carrots in the vomit.
sickening i know but it's so true!!!
the last time i vomited was when i was 6/7. honestly. i'm too scared of it. it really is one of my phobias.
i'm gonna look up that phobia.
Well, you see, when we are sick our bodies start growing vegetables and fruit on the inside. Carrots are the most prolific, but when you are sick you can also vomit celery, prunes, garlic, and sometimes -but rarely- toblerone chocolate.
You throw up carrots because you ate them. No, seriously our bodies take longer to digest uncooked veggies .I don't eat carrots so with me it is always corn. ICK!
You don't chew your food enough before swallowing, those carrots have probably been hanging out in your stomach.
as Billy Connoly one said - diced carrots, it's always diced carrots!
I don't know.
That's easy I do cos , I'm a vegetarian! I think it has to do with the way food is digested. Even if you don't eat carrots at all there always seems to be little random orange lumps!!
Not 100% but I'm sure that what appears to be carrots is in fact stomach lining!
Nice!
Blood (as the iron in the blood is oxidized)
Everything which comes out of your mouth will have been consumed by you. They may appear as carrots, but otherwise, that won't be the case as everything we eat is broken down into fluids to promote digestion.
Carrots are very hard to digest, and it has been proven that they actually start to take root in your digestive system, if you swallow a load of black carrot flys they will feed on your carrots roots as well, and when you eventually vomit the flys will come up and just make the beans look grainy.
its not carrot! its Bile or something like that :S but its not carrots
I think the carroty bits are the lining of the stomach
Carrots take longer to digest than some other foods
they tuck themselves comfortably
in the stomach for quite a while,
before disappearing, into the digestive system.
and being orange,
they certainly show up horribly ,when you vomit
,
I hate to say this, but carrots do, turn up in your stools too.
