I'm a third year psychology major. I love the psychology courses I have taken, and graduate school (for a Ph.D) is a serious dream of mine. Starting a private practice (which is what it seems like you want to do) is quite appealing. However, you have to think about the factors that will play a major role. Do you have the monetary start that your clinic would need? The experience? You will have a harder time starting a private practice right off the bat. I think you are thinking too early.you need to take courses first to see if psychology is truly a field of interest for you. You also need to explore which area of psychology you are interested in: developmental, social, industrial/organization. I am confused by your word "company." Do you mean a clinic?
You are right in that attaining a Ph.D will take a lot of hard work. The Ph.D program runs 4-7 years, depending on how fast you finish your dissertation. Then you need to do an internship. If you are passionate about psychology, do not let that scare you. However, if you prefer a shorter path, a M.A in psychology or a M.S.W (independently licensed) is enough in most states to qualify you to be a therapist.
In truth, I believe that you are setting up dreams that are too early to think about. It is not wrong to set high goals, but this is a serious issue that will require a lot of time and money. Just work hard during undergrad. Don't stress about the future yet. Once you finish your doctoral or master's, you should seek experience through a job first. Then, you can attempt to open up a private practice. Clients want to be able to trust their therapists, and someone fresh out of school would have a harder time finding an adequate number of clients.

Yes, it is hard work and you must be prepared to do the study hours to get a good degree. However it can also be a lot of fun and you will build up a strong social network, also if you know the kind of business you are interested in you could start in a small way at Uni. Remember a partner doesn't need to be doing the same degree course as you, they could be doing business administration, law or even marketing. I hope this helps and good luck!
I've had a great interest in Psychology, but tuition fees limit me to only affording 1 degree so i'm going with Game Design next year.
Best of luck with your degree though.
I'm in school for Psychology
Psychology is a very diverse field, so you need to be more specific about what kind of business you mean (clinical practice, psychometrics company, survey research group, job evaluation consultants?). You're also looking at a minimum of 8 years (and maybe as many as 11) from the time you start your undergrad program to your Ph.D., so your interests may change considerably within that time.
