After how long should you buy new pairs of underwear?

About every 3 to 6 months. It should fit well and still maintain its original shape, the elastic should be intact and not pulled, there should be no holes and it should be soft in all areas.

I buy new undies about every 3 months
I replace mine when they look a little faded from washing or if the elastic has started to go. My husband replaces his when I say 'These have got holes in them!' and insist he gets new ones.

AS soon as you stain them, wash them so many times that they are string or when you notice wholes no more than 6 months!
Throw the old pair up.if it sticks to the ceiling you need to replace it!

Ha I laughed at Peta's answer-my husband is exactly the same. Personally, I buy underwear whenever I see some that I like. If I find particularly good items, then I stock up on them. I never buy white, because it discolours so quickly and I think it shows through your clothes. There's nothing like nice, colourful undies to cheer you up. also go through your smalls, and if there's stuff you haven't worn for 6 months or has elastic hanging out of it, sling it to make room for some more nice new stuff. If you go to America for a holiday, make sure you visit Victoria's Secret armed with about $200-you'll see loads of must-have stuff there! (look at their website-it's to die for!) Remember, a girl can never have too much underwear :)
It really depends on how often you wear them. If you wear them very often, then you might have to buy a new pair six month to a year depending on the condition.

My mom used to say: when you don't want to be wearing them when you wind up in the hospital after an accident. I used to answer that I would have other concerns at that moment, but I think: replace them as soon as you would feel embarrassed if someone would see you wearing them.

I buy them all the time. I just feel you can never have too many pairs of underwear. I think it's Victoria Secret's fault. I get those catalogs in the mail and I just have to buy more because their cute, pretty, and sexy.
I buy new underwear almost every week, one or two pairs. They get worn and saggy pretty quickly, and if there's one thing I'm fussy about, it's that my undies feel nice. Bras I buy twice a year. Because I'm bigger chested than average, I have to be fitted, and find a style that suits me; then I buy three or four in different colours. This all takes me a half a day or so. Underwear is so cheap these days, there's no reason for anyone not to have at least two dozen pairs.
I say whenever you find a cute pair:). Men don't complain about new undies nearly as much as new shoes!
