Is Asking A Question About Something The Same As It Being Your Opinion?
Why is it when you ask a question about something, because you've seen it referred to elsewhere and you don't know anything about it, some people attack you personally and give you negative points as if it's your opinion?
Answers:
You can ask a question because you need to know the answer. You can ask a question because you have an opinion and you want to see whether people agree with you. You can ask a question because you are trying to make a point.
Unfortunately, there are a few people on this site that lack the emotional maturity to tell the difference.
Because some people are very negative and angry. Often they use your question as an excuse to rant.
When you write something down, a whole layer of meaning that would be there if you were talking face to face is stripped away. It is easy to infer the wrong thing from text that is written.
You could try wording your questions more carefully so people don't get the wrong end of the stick.
Some people like to go out of there way to p*ss others off dear :o)
It goes to the mentality of the people asking the question and you have to expect it. Sometimes i ask questions in order to provoke a response from the answerer - it is only normal that a lot of the people who answer will dislike the question and because of this field an answer that is attacking, personal and even abusive, i think of this as good as it shows that they cared enough about the question to answer - and i know that in answering my question they have thought about views that are different to there own and therefor may have a larger understanding of life.
NO.!!
Not sure - maybe it's the way the question is worded and people misunderstand? It's sometimes difficult to communicate online because you don't always know the intention of the writer. Most of the time, it looks as if the question asked DOES relate directly to the opinion of the person who asked it. If not, maybe you should clearly state it that way - to give no doubt that you are just looking for feedback and have no opinion yet or whatever. That would help to eliminate the confusion, where there might be some.
In other cases, people are probably just being jerks - I've noticed there are lots of them here! Just ignore them if they attack you. Some people seem to think it's fun to be mean.
I agree with you on this one..the worst thing is when you ask question which probably has no bearing what so ever on your personal life and people answer it as though they automatically know you, and it's what your about.so frustrating.
Because there's often an implied premise to the question which in fact DOES reflect your opinion. Such as, "Why do you idiots think a question reflects ignorance on my part that I should have any doubts about the subject of that question?" The premise is of course that only an idiot would think that a question reflected a preconceived opinion as a basis for asking it.
Can you guess the premise of this question?
It depends: A "Should." demands an opinion, whereas a "Do you know." or "Where can I." demand answers.
