Why do girls tend to grow up more quickly than boys?

I've noticed that physically, girls start to develop sexual characteristics much sooner than boys at puberty. Also, psychologically, they mature much quicker. Many of the boys in my high school class still laughed when sex was mentioned when they were 16, but the girls took a maturer approach and didn't laugh

A 12 years old girl probably is more ready and prepared for a sexual intercourse than a 14 years old boy
I don't really think girls do develop faster they just think they do. When you think about it both the girls and boys are the same age, so girls can't know more about life than boys can. I just think its a social thing really, girls are expected to grow up quicker, and boys are expected to still act immature
Because we girls don't have time care about that stuff and boys well they're just immature! They'll always be! The boys in my class are soooo immature, it's unbelievable! I'm still in high school so I know what I'm saying!
as a mother i think we tend to mollycoddle our boys and teach our girls more about being a woman and thats how girls mature quicker ..lol.its all the mothers fault ..lol
