No way. If you have to try to be cool then you are totally contradicting coolness and become uncool and pretentious.
I'm totally happy in myself so if I come across as cool, that's cool, but if people think I'm uncool, then I'm totally cool with that.

Apparently just being yourself is cool.
It's hard to define what is cool as everyone has a different view. I think that punk music, tattoos and skateboarding are cool so I do go out of my way to do these things. I can't really say that I am cool though as other people may think that Ricky Martin is. It's all in the eyes of the beholder.
