How do you pronounce Schedule. I am on the verge of dispair.?
Answers:
Time table
shed ule
Sked yule
shed-ual
Americans pronounce it Sked' jull.
shed - yule
Shed or Sked - it doesn't really matter.
I use both.
sked yull
In the UK it's shedule.
In the US it's skedule.
Drives me nuts to hear English reporters etc. say 'skedule'.
Either way is acceptable. Shedule being the UK preference.
Either one is fine, i prefere shed though- Im english
s k e d u a l
hmmmmmm, thats how I say it anyway, I think the americans pronounce it
shed ual
!!!!!!!
i say shed but I'm common so maybe I'm wrong
If you want the correct pronunciation of any word, you cannot know it by writing , you have to hear it...ask someone to send you an audio recording , hear it and learn....ok....best of luck.
In the UK we say shed yule, as we speak the Queens English we must be right!
Shed Yule.
Sked-yule
sked-ual
sked jule
Sc hed ule not every one is the same though like shed duel, sked ule I prefer agenda.
It's bit like that song - "You say tomato and I say tomatoe, you say potato and I say potarto" In this instance shed for UK and sked for USA.
Please colour not color and centre not center.
Okay I will go and have a 'Cat's Nap'.
it all depends on the dialect u speak.. if u speak American English then its Skedule
if u speak British english then its Shedyule.
Hi Chris
If you're in the UK it's pronounced 'shedule' - which is, of course, the correct version..(!!) However, if you're in the US they pronounce it 'skedule'. Hmmmm..
Hope you're soon out of your despair - (note the correct spelling! It's always good to learn something!)
USA pronounces it sked jool, but across the pond they say it differently
and 'dispair' is what ? a divided spair ?
Depends on where you live and how you talk. It can be both sked- jew-ul or shed-jewl.
that's a good Q. I happen to use both 'sk' and 'sh' but more frequently I use the phonetic 'sked-yule'.
Thanks for making me think though!:)
The English language (particularly the 'Queen's' language) is a very strange entity in that although there are a number 'rules' to the pronunciation of words (just like there are for the spelling of words such as 'I before E but not after C...).. there are also a number of 'exceptions' to those rules!!.. (unlike spelling)...
The word SCHEDULE is one of those words - the SCH is pronounded SHHHH - so you would say the word as SHHedyool...
However another similar looking workd is SCHEME - where the rule is broken! .. because this SCH is pronounced SK (or SC) - so the word would be pronounced as SKEEM (or SCEEM) ..
For Americans both words would be pronounced with the SK(SC) beginning ..
I know there seems to be no ryhme or reason to this !! .. it's just a case of memorising !..
sked -jew- roll
Think you're being far to hard on yourself!
I'd schedule a look at the following sites:

Take it easy.
