Has it ever occured to the EU, that we in Britain and America, dont want to be metric?

We in Australia went metric years ago (I was only young), but I still speak feet and inches today.
Oh they hear us saying it - they just choose to ignore us !!!!

Has it occured to you that whilst the USA can make up its own mind, Britain is a member of the EU?
I'm British and I want to be metric. It's always a mistake to believe that the Daily Mail and The Sun speak for the majority of the population.
We have it already, with the exception of miles, so why stop there?
Britain went metric in 1995.
The only other countries besides the US that don't officially use the metric system are Burma and Liberia.
Perhaps it's time we joined the rest of the world.

metric is much better and I am English!
the fact is the measurements are simple and always in 10's for the metric system, were as you have to remember how many inches are in a foot and so on.
Has it occured to you that the 350 million people you're referring to may not have the same opinion as you do. I'm a student in London, we've all been taught the metric system at school, and it pisses us off when people like you want to confuse matters by using such primitive units! We're thinking about the future here and the metric system is much more sensible! You may have the americans on your side, I don't know, but they're a bunch of rebels anyway!

I really do not see where the problem is, metric is THE system, it is logical and easy.

The EU has made Great Britain into a puppet state of the Soviet States of Europe, (with the help and approval of many of our Prime Ministers who were anti EU before getting the 'top job'.)
Now we have been fed so much propaganda many people spout the official line with little thought of the damage to our country.
Metric is a small and less important part of what they have done to our nation.
I demand our Anglo Saxon laws and British courts are supreme
I demand we take control of our borders
I demand we impose the 3 mile limit and allow our fishermen to work unhindered by quotas.
I demand that control of our nation is brought back to Westminster
When all these things come to pass, then WE, the British people can decide if we want metric or imperial.
Not to believe in Great Britain as an independant nation is sheer treachery and treason.
