What is political economy and development studies?

I need to know what "political economy and development studies" entail as an undergraduate or postgraduate course. This might entail defining it, the concepts, theories and other issues related to it.

Answers:
The course would take a look at political paradimes (like communism, democracy, fascism, etc) and show their impact on the economy and the development of the country. You will find that different countries do better with different types of government (which makes sense because there are different cultures around the world). The course may also go into the effects of the wrong type of government for a country and the effects (ie force feeding democracy to a under developed country usually leads to a dictatorship).
Probably the development of politics over the years, and the economical effects or something.
Political economy is the old-fashioned term for economics. When you take that course today, you will study Micro and Macro economics.

Developmental studies refer to theories and issues of economic development. A course that combines both probably a course in what would be labeled as developmental economics.

Keep in mind different colleges and professors will teach this differently based on their personal and philosophical bent. The core content should be the same mostly.
