Why does alcohol make me become withdrawn, sleepy + uncommunicative?
ok, i know it is a depressant, but how is it that everyone else gets cheerful + talkative on it and i have the opposite effect? this affects my social life cos i just can't be bothered talking to anyone when i have had a few drinks. is it possible to socialise and not drink? how do i explain to people that i'm not drinking when there is so much pressure to do so?
Answers:
Because alcohol has a depressive effect.
Try lucozade
Alcohol affects everyone differently
A lot of people go to sleep when they have been drinking heavily
Try red bull - its a stimulant
because its a relaxer a stimulet like a drug, And if you chose not to drink good for you, Its better that you stay away from alchol if you cant drink it
Everyone has their own reaction to alcohol. It's said to bring out the "real" you, that's is, in terms of behaviour. The person that lies within you that you don't want people to see will come out in you whe you take alcohol. In some people it's anger, others it's violence, others it's sadness, but i guess for you, it's being uncommunicative.
I think you have issues on your mind which prevent you from joyous behaviour. These may be genetically embedded in your mind such that you need to try something else other than alcohol. Why don't you try drugs, I think they can make you happy and allow you to open up a bit.
you just say alcohol does,nt agree with you..or that your medication does not allow you to drink.
In My Drinking Yearsssss, It intensified whatever Mood i was in!! Its All got to do with what kind of Person you are, You know,.Like "Jocks and preps" they're LOUD and UnBarable Snotting, Stuck up,... then You got the "Loners" sum have a friend or 2, Sum Don't,..Hell they mite be " Cutters, self destructive,Depressed, suicidal,..You Get what I'm Saying? Hope So, Kelle*
Why do you have to explain what you are drinking? If you have a coke in your hand no one knows there's no liquor in it unless you tell them. If everyone is drinking beer and you have to put up a front then order one and don't drink it.
Another thing you could try if someone asks why you aren't drinking simply say 'cause I act like an @ss when I get drunk.
I'm the same, alcohol just doesn't agree with me- I had to go home after a couple of hours last night as drink just makes me want to sleep, and I get very irritable= no fun. I took a break from drinking earlier in the year and I felt so much better for it- more money, less arguements, no hangovers. I think I'm going to stop again. As far as I'm concerned, when I start to feel rotten when I'm drinking, my body is giving me a clear message- stop.
Maybe u should try and socialise for a while without drinking- it'll be weird but try it and see how u get on. If you have to drink, have a long drink and cut down- if you pace yourself a bit more then your more likely to be able to handle a night out, and more likely to be sociable. I worried about having a night out and not drinking because of what people would be like, but that really is their problem- you should decide what is best for you and if your friends etc don't like it, then tough cookie. If I'm out on a 'no alcohol' night then i'll drink non-alchoholic versions i.e. soda and lime or non-alcoholic cocktails. Remember that a great deal of what we feel like when we are drunk is psychological- if u are happt and feel good, then when u drink you'll be okay. However, if u drink when you are feeling depressed or down or insecure in any way, then alcohol will just make these feelings worse. Maybe there are other areas of our life you need to look at in order to imrove your happiness- I know that was the case for me anyway, I was unhappy with myself and when I got drunk I got ten times worse.
If you decide you do not want to drink at a function, then don''t, it's just a decision and it's your choice. If you're feeling pressured, don't go to the function. People-pleasing??
If people don't understand you choose not to drink, you're hanging around with the wrong people. Alcohol is a major depressant for you so order something that looks like a drink and who's going to know the difference? I don't know how old you are, but at some point in life you have decide if you're going to be your own person or cave into pressure everytime you encounter it. The choice is yours. Unless you're the lead dog, the scenery never changes.
First of all - DONT drink RedBull with alcohol. its terrible for you. second, how many drinks are you having? if a few drinks is a few HUGE drinks, than that could be your trouble right there. But seriously, everyone's body reacts differently to alcohol. It has a paradoxical effect on the body - Its a depressant, but in low doses it makes most people feel more awake and stimulated. Are you getting enough sleep at night? If you are not getting your 7-8 hours of good sleep, having a few drinks can compund the effects of being tired (even if you don't feel tired). On days when I haven't slept enough, one beer makes me yawn uncontrollably..
