What are the pros's and cons of psycho dynamics?
Answers:
Psycho dynamic psychotherapy is like psychoanalysis. It is a school of thought in psychology that followed Freud's theory. This type of therapeutic approach is very similar to psycho-analysis. Some of the practitioners use object relations theory which focuses on the child-mother relationship.
The pro's of psycho dynamics would be--- that it may be helpful for the client to gain some insight as to how they feel about themselves, which to a large extent is often how they feel about their mother figure.
This approach would also allow the client to explore issues in a safe setting and also to get things from the therapist that they didn't get from their mother.
The con's----- are that this approach requires one to meet with the practitioner several times a week, which requires lots of resources like time and money, and meeting this often promotes dependence upon the therapist and could cause the client great stress if the therapist left.
