Why do people find high pitch noise, eg, fingers nails on chalkboard, so annoying and unbearable?

Because they set the delicate ear mechanism haywire !!
and sends the nerves to my teeth jangling

Some people are more susceptible than others

Just reading this questions, gave me chills, Yikes!!
I don't think anyone could really tell you why it bothers them. Some people respond to sounds differently than others. High pitched noises bother me a lot, and chalkboards and the like give me goose bumps.
Its their nature
