Talking to my guitar?
I recently got a guitar, which I called Athena Nike, and I often just sit there and talk to it! I can sit there for ages talking away about completely random stuff with it. Is this normal? What should I do? Do any other musicians here do the same thing?
It's becoming really embarrassing..:-(

Don't worry about it, if you want to talk to your guitar go ahead and talk to it. At least you're getting things off your chest and I bet you feel more relaxed and content with life. Too many people bottle things up and get all kinds of health problems. I think it is good that you talk to your guitar and I don't think you're mad.
Haha.ok, I dont have a full on conversation, but yes, i tend to talk to mu piano and violin.
try doing it at the same time as you play it - that way other people will just think you are singing!
It's normal. I can often talk to anything, i.e I swear at my computer. And I also used to yell at my violin.
I play the harp but have never talked to it. My friends suggested tha it might be good for making chips with.
not really. its a good way to build up confidence. if you get used to how it sounds and plays it will become a good companion i guess talking to it is weird ish lol. but if you find it easy to get things off your chest that way. why not/?
Only if it doesn't answer back in words.
I often do but I keep a box of tissues nearby in case it gently weeps.
It,s a bit strange mate, but i think it will do you no harm, but if you are using it in place of conversing with people ,then you should talk with someone about it. If you can talk with people in a normal way, then no problem. All great artist have strange quirks, maybe you are one.
if it anawers you back, start worrying
Honey, I think you need to get out more. It just means you need someone to be an impartial, nonjudgemental listener. Try making some real, human friends, or calling a help line like the Samaritans.
I talk to the instruments i play, but normally just in a 'why did the string break, you moron', angry sort of way.
It's fine, and a good way to get rid of any anger or stress, as long as your guitar does not answer back. THen you should be worried.

As a guitar player, you get to be wierd that way. It's one of the perks - enjoy!
Sad question from a borderline individual.
Rate me how you want, but honestly, relax more or get professional help.I only answer out of genuine concern; I play guitar: trust me, it ain't normal
you are OK as long as you don't start and answer yourself back
