Why do weather presenters talk about rain as if it is a dreadful situation that will ruin our entire day?
They say OH NO look what's coming our way (it never does) Stop driving, stay in your house .

Good question! Perhaps we all just like to moan - or it gives us a focus for our moans so we can avoid the real problems, or perhaps they suffer from SAD syndrome and can't afford one of those fab daylight lamps?
They obviously aren't pot smokers!
just to caution u
Ha! What? You do not like the "Storm Watch 2006" broadcasts, which rate right up there with police pursuits??
They do that because they want the weather segment to seem just as important as any other news. Just as important as sports, terrorism, elections and local news.
I'm of the opinion they are nothing but a bunch of unfunny comedians, but they are absolutely 100% spot on about the weather we have had.
Well, it does matter if you're a farmer and need to worry about planting or putting in crops. A day of rain would indeed ruin the entire day. you wouldn't be able to get your work done.
Everyone else is just whiny about getting their socks damp. :)
Lack of sun does make it harder to be peppy and happy, though..
Thats fine, its when they forecast rain and you plan your day around it, then the day turns out hot and sunny.
Interesting that you should notice that. Weather is actually very boring, but an expressive delivery probably makes it seem more important. Delivery has a lot to do with how we percieve the news; it can be slanted one way or the other using the exact same words and different stress/accent. Here's an interesting experiment: People were asked to read an account of a horrific plane crash while they deliberately kept a smile on their faces. Listening to the tape later, they sounded like psychopaths reveling in the destruction. So you can learn to accent a news story one way or another by learning to be aware of your own facial expression at the time and manipulating it according to how you want it to come out. Exact same words, different slant.
God knows. They would be moaning more if we had no rain at all.
Coz rain is crap and it does ruin your day!
They don't do it everywhere.
If you get a chance to see weather forcasts for places where it doesn't rain much, a lot of the time rain is a good thing, and the way that they say it reflects that.
I think that anywhere, though, round about springtime, sunshine becomes desireable.
You can say just the opposite on sunny days: during the summer when you've got rediculously hot days, think of the relieved tone they've got once a little bit of rain arrives.
how can i motavate myself to do something?

Boys versus girls..?
Is David Icke right? Is George Bush REALLY an Illuminati?
