My five yr old son having been enlightened by you already would like to know now ' why is the sun yella?

Answers:
There are two reasons why sources of heat have colour.
1) there is a simple relationship between the temperature of an object and the wavelengths of light it emits. Thus an electric fire glows dull red soon after you switch it on and quickly reaches a bright orangey red at full temperature. The colour inside a furnace at the same temperature would be very similar but it is capable of becoming much hotter. As the temperature increases the colour tends towards yellow and eventually becomes 'white hot'. All these colours represent an average of a whole mix of wavelengths being thrown out.

2) With very hot gaseous objects (like the sun) the atoms making up the hot gas (called a plasma) have electrons that are gaining and losing energy in a way that light of a very specific wavelength (like a sodium streetlight) is produced rather than a mix.

The light from the sun is a mixture of both types and is mostly white light from the sheer temperature, made slightly yellowish by the plasma colour.
Because it's on fire!
actually, it's because teh sun is a g-2 yellow star. I think it's the gas composition that causes the color, but not sure
It's actually white. like the xenon headlights in my bmw.

Black body radiation. The temperature of the sun (about 5000K I believe) corresponds with the 'yellow' part of the graph.
it is the color of the heat of the gas hydrogen burning..
Because it's afraid of the dark ?

Or maybe because it burns just hot enough to be that colour. If it was any bigger, or any hotter then it would burn red, or white or even blue!
The sun is a giant ball (or star) or fire..fire from a great distance is yellow..i believe since that is the case with the sun!
