To err is human but to forgive is divine! How do you feel about someone who has?
done you a wrong..are you a forgiving sort of person or what?
Answers:
I have been completely devastated by someone who has done me a wrong, but over the years, I have been able to look at things from their side. That is not to say that I agree or condone the wrong they have done me; it has simply giving me a new perspective on it. I can understand why they did what they did. Usually people do you wrong if they are eaten up with jealousy and bitterness. That is their problem not yours. Therefore, I have come to forgive them for their utter completeness sadness and badness. We only make ourselves suffer if we keep on feeling awful about the wrong done to us. I have forgiven out of pity for them more than anything. And the fact that I have forgiven, has empowered me and enabled me to get on with my life. Trouble is, you dont forget, you just learn to deal with it.
Overall, I am a forgiving person. I think that the people who are not so forgiving tend to have a stubborn streak. This can turn into a vendetta that evokes a bitter emotion..not good! Is better to forgive and move on.
I must add that this is a generalised answer, as I cannot begin to imagine what it would be like, for instance, if someone murdered a loved one of mine. That is another quandry. Life can be so complex!!***!
Yes yet it takes the higher part of our humanity and love to do it, it is hard yet in the end you live with the most pain by just hating.
Unfortunately I never forgive
I try. I will forgive people I love because I want them in my life and if you don't forgive them you will be miserable. Other people, well, I may forgive them or I may just forget them and give them no more thought.
kill them all i say and then leave the bodies to rot where they fall
Depends on how serious is the wrongdoing. If it's something mild, I'd laugh it off. I can forgive almost everything, but I won't forgive or forget if my partner cheats on me. And, a fortune teller once said,"You're someone with good memory. If you hate someone, you could hate him/her for life". I didn't tell him anything before that, he just held my hands and looked at my date of birh ( and I didn't even give him my time of birth!) Freaky, but true!
I can forgive but the scar in my heart is always there.
Erring is human and we all do it. It would be stupid not to forgive because then you have the hate and hard feelings stuck inside and it really makes life tough carrying it around. To forgive is divine and we should all do it if the person is truly asking to be forgiven or if we need to forgive so we can get on with our life. To forgive is divine but to forget is stupid! Forgive the person but learn and never forget the lesson learned and how you learned it!
Depends what they have done. You can't always forgive but you should forget or the bad feelings will eat away at you and life is too short to hold a grudge
I never forgive, revenge is always sweet
Oh how I wish I could be as forgiving as my husband.
His first wife after 30 odd years took off to live with his mate.
He is still friends with the wife and the mate!
I have just found out he's cheating on me and man..I cannot forgive him.
He behaves as if nothing has happened.! What is that?
Is it a man thing?
I would love to be more forgiving, in fact working on it with counsellor. Not much happening yet.
I can forgive,(if it was unintentional) but I never forget, and never trust the same again. And if it was intentional, never forgive, never forget, do everything I can to crucify and destroy their reputation, finances, family life, until they're a broken defeated, blob and shoot themselves in the head. Then we're even.
ONE CAN FORGIVE BUT ONE CAN NEVER FORGET !!
I try. Most times I forgive, specially if it was a genuine mistake. And I can forgive the first time. Repeated mistakes though, I never forget. So learn your lesson the first time.
I'm hardest on myself. There are things I've done which (when I think about it) I still have not forgiven myself no matter how innocent a mistake it was.
One must forgive...it eats away at you if you dont.
But, some things are virtually unforgivable in my book.
How the parents of murdered Children can forgive is beyond me.
Yet that funny Armish lot in the US say they did..
And Jesus is supposed to have forgiven those who Crucified him.
If truth be known he probably called on God to destroy the lot of them!
If I know a person is honestly sorry for their treatment of me and sincerely intend not to repeat their actions, then I have no difficulty forgiving them. It only hurts me if I stay angry when they have done their best to make amends.
I try to, although its hard :). I have never though intentionally harmed someone who has done me wrong - and this I have done deliberately. Who knows what will happen, but so far I've tried. Its an efford :)
I believe that when people didn't really mean to do something wrong you should forgive them because life is short, and because we all occasionally do something out of ignorance or bad judgment.
When it comes to some big things, though, such as harming other people or animals intentionally; I think some things are unforgivable. I do believe that because "forgiving is divine" the forgiving of some wrongs should be left up to God, and humans should not attempt to "borrow" divine behavior. I actually believe that even God doesn't forgive some things.
When it comes to some things I actually believe that if there is God He would expect us to be angry and to not forgive things like hurting others intentionally.
But when it comes to the smaller stuff or the stuff that nobody really intended to do or else did because they didn't know any better - forgiving makes sense.
Depends on the situation or the erring. Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me.
Do you do any wrong at all? Do you hurt anyone at all? Now if you do, would you want them to forgive you? We all do wrong daily. Only perfect people don't wrong others, and they don't exist just yet. If you fail to forgive people who wrong you, you are bound to hold them in contempt. This attitude is destructive to your health. So you that was wronged will become sick because of your attitude and the one guilty of the wrong goes around freely, feeling well. If you want to be sick don't forgive. If you want good health and live long, cultivate the habit of forgiving - everyone is capable of doing it if only they commit themselves to it. It is your choice.
The real world is attained simply by the complete forgiveness of the old, the world you see without forgiveness. For forgiveness literally transforms vision, and lets you see the real world reaching quietly and gently across chaos , removing all illusions that had twisted your perception and fixed it on the past.

But I'm normally happy in the fact that I can leave my troubles up to karma, everyone always gets whats coming to them.
