Don't children play in the park anymore?
We used to play on the swings and the roundabout, now when I walk through the same park there is no children there, I can't remember there being any strange men about when I was young, we were only scared of other children, words like pedophile didn't exist then, it seems to have become like a media thing.

whether it is just a media thing or not, parents are now genuinly concerned that if they let their child out of their sight for more than three seconds they will be abducted, or murdured, or something, and it is probably mainly due to the media coverage of such events. This is, of course, now leading to children spending every spare minute on the computer, or TV, and teachers becoming scared of taking the children on school trips, and the children them selves, as they are now not even allowed to put a plaster on a hurt child, in case the parents sue them.
Personally i think it is rediculous that children are not allowed to go to the park anymore, as if people were taught safety, and stayed near an adult they knew, nothing would happen to them anyway. People are WAY too paranoid.

The media have never helped with these things - one sad event occurs in some secluded part of the world, and everyone knows about it and runs scared.
I still see kids playing in the park all the time round here, its part of life having mums take their kids along to play on the (far too safe to be fun) swings and things.

It seems hat the world has become more and more insane.There is no more safety,fear of God,faith,people are crazy,they're fighting,killing each other,commiting terrible crimes.

I remember when I was growing up there would be about 20 kids down the park playing football after school. You dont get it these days at all.

Kids don't play in the park anymore because there is always gangs of youths shouting, swearing, smashing bottles and vandalising property, drinking, taking drugs and beating people up. kids are scared to death of these yobs and many go down the same path as an attempt to fit in with "the crowd".
No, they drink alcopops, smoke cannabis and throw up in the park these days.

What with the weirdo's and used syringes, it's not the ideal spot to send the kiddies out to play.
my parents used to have to drive us around when i was a kid. i think parents are a too stressed out to drive their kids to parks anymore.
Time had changed. Today's kids don't fancy what kids fancied yesterday. Like don't know what's a computer at my time
I take my kids to the park all the time but was some-what dismayed the last time I went to find that some morons had smashed the raings off the wooden climing frame and that it was covered in graffatti they had (i say they cos whoever it was was a moron) also smashed there feet through one of the tread boards and decided to cover the slide with mud, hence it was not a very nice day at the park so its not surprising that kids dont go there anymore. I i live in a very small cornish town so it just goes to show that this kind of behaviour isnt just in the inner citys

Well apart from a lot of child perverts making that the first place to look, children now play video games, watch TV, and have no interest in playing in parks. Very young children still find them a place of wonder but under the watchfull eyes of a responsable adult. Seems this is the world we are now living in.
Mine do, but only when I take them - there is too much traffic for them to go there alone. When we're there, it's always heaving with kids so that they have to wait and take turns on the play equipment.
Try going somewhere like Holland Park in London, the play area there is just unbelieveably packed!
