Would you rather be deaf or blind?
I find it hard to decide whether it would be worse not to hear my kids talking or see their beautiful faces!
Answers:
Deaf.id rather see then hear
Blind.
I find emotions and beauty are better transferred through music than pictures or movies.
I would rather be deaf..at least you can see and feel the world around you.
deaf
Blind, so I could still hear music.
Deaf ... at least I could see and still communicate with sign language
dumb
I would rather be able to see
id rather be dead
Deaf. All of my work is visual - photography, documentary, painting. And like you said, seeing the faces of one's kids - when I do have them that is.
I could learn to read lips and there are lots of tools to help deaf people communicate with hearing people. Losing my sight would rock my world.
I had a friend who was shot in the face when he was 9 years old. He was blind and if you didn't know him you would never guess. He was a 3rd degree black belt in tae kwon do and taught classes. He played guitar in my brother's band. He also had his master's degree in psychology. I would say from watching him that I would choose to be blind. I love music and sound too much to spend the rest of my life not being able to hear.
I would rather be deaf. If you're blind you can't drive, and you have a hard time walking without bumping into stuff. If you're deaf you can drive, and when you're walking down the street no one will really know if you're deaf unless they talk to you.
deaf
but then i am an artist (painting, drawing, etc)
I'm hard of hearing but I get by in life. I would not like to be deaf but it would definitely be preferable to being blind and living in total darkness.
Deaf
deaf. life could still be easy, do things, dress myself, see where im going, and have the pleasure of watching things rather the just hearing, but it would also be terrible if i lost either
deaf and / or blind to what??? ;)
Blind. Couldn't live without music - manmade or natural (the roar of the waves, the morning chirping of the birds, the leaves rustling in the wind). Stevie Wonder seems to be doing okay.
hi
i would rather be deaf i think, would hate not to be able to see peoples faces and expressions. But that is a very difficult question!

supposedly, it is much worse to be deaf than blind, because blindness doesn't limit your communication skills that much. You can still talk and listen. Deafness, though, severely limits your ability to easily communicate with most of the population, and that really makes life a challenge. If I lost my eyesight, I would take it tough. I'd probably take a job as a radio DJ, though, I know a guy who has a very successful career doing that and I have the connections to get into the business. If I went deaf, though, I would probably go mad. I wouldn't be able to handle the isolation and life change.
Well since I already am legally blind, the choice is rather easy I wouldn't want to be deaf.
Most blind people aren't totally blind where they see nothing at all. Many blind people can see colour and shape ,some detail so you can actually get along in the world fairly easily.
However if I was deaf I'd never hear birds sing or soft flow of a mountain stream or children's sweet voices in a choir or conversations with people. I know there are hard of hearing people who can speak and hear somethings, but for me not being able to hear or talk would be a real hardship. But then again there is the deaf culture where with asl deaf people can have conversations and be expressive .
Each disability has its' pro's and cons I guess.
As being diabetic I do not want to go blind. at least I can still communicate & see if I was deaf but being blind would be so .. isolated I think. Please, I don't want to put blind people down, I feel for them, I honestly do. It is just my opinion, that's all.
This is a hard one, because there are pros and cons to both!
I would probably have to be deaf. I would love to see the colors, my friends, my family and I love the scenery where I live. I would really miss it if I couldn't see.
i would rather be deaf.i am totally deaf in one ear. so i have a rough idea of how it would be to be deaf..because i can see what people say . my eyes allow me to hear better ..but my ears would never be able to let me see.and i couldnt imagine not being able to see all the beautful things&colours ect. there are to see in life and the world
If I must choose, I would not give up my sight. My reason? I love to see everything, kinda nosy that way. Also I could still 'hear' kids laughing, sound is a vibration so reach out and touch someone, literally.
i'd rather be blind.pissed to see my face in the mirror!!!
deaf, you can read and write, being deaf, there is no communication
I'm already blind in one eye, but I sure hear good.
i would rather be deaf than blind. when your blind you cant see what is going on in society, or even whats happening. but when your deaf you cant hear what every one is saying about each other, and the world. you cant hear the conflict between people that goes on to affect others in the mere future. deaf is better because you cant hear the problems of the world screaming at you to do something.
I would rather deaf...not seeing it would be very difficult not seeing where I'm going, and what I'm doing, being deaf i can read people mouth's
Best wishes and good luck
I would rather be deaf, as much as I love to listen to music or hear the voices of my children, I HAVE to see colors and landscapes and my children's faces. I have to know what's going on around me with my vision, plus, If I went deaf now, I already have music memorized, so I can just remember it and sing it to myself.
