Does swimming really give you big shoulders, or is this a myth?

I am not tlaking about muscles, but width

Butterfly does. If you are into competitive swimming but want to avoid the big shoulders, try freestyle and backstroke.
It gives you big breaths
I have big shoulders and never swim.

kinda both cause yes swimming can give u big shoulders but it all depends on how much u swim. If uswim like everyday all the time yes, if its now and then no.
Yes it does, Scientists have proved that by doing atleast 1 hour or swimming a day your thigh and arm muscles increase in size. If you do diving then your toe muscles also get bigger.
All swimming can increase the size and performance of shoulder muscles and is excellent exercise, as it works all muscle groups and is low impact because you're in the water, so your joints aren't under any stress or anything. To increase muscle size and strength, butterfly is probably the best stroke to do, but is technically demanding and quite tiring to a non-athlete.
If you train enough, your shoulders will appear broader because there will be more muscle tissue, so in this way the muscles make your shoulders bigger. As regards the actual shoulders, you can't make them wider as such, your bone structure is your bone structure, end of story. If you're not naturally broad-shouldered, you'll only be able to increase width by putting on muscle tissue.
swimming builds up the bones and muscles inthe shoulders that other sports dont touch. This causes it to be bigger, so yes in a way. Pluse, bigger shoulders help in races.

It isn't a myth at all! I am a swimmer and I have big shoulderd.not that I wanted them.they aren't ugly.swimming just builds up your shoulders and makes them stronger! :D
I guess it kinda does Because ive been swimming for almost all my life and i have humongo shoulder but they really help in the races!
No its true. My Friend Ben used to be a National swimmer and he looked like an upside-down triangle.

its a stupid myth that if you'd thought about it for 2 seconds, you would have realized that your bones dont just grow farther apart because you're using the muscles on them

of course your muscles get bigger with so much use, but the "width" of your bones or whatever you were talking about don't change
no. your bones are like that when you're born, you can't change them
