Why is there no number 13 car in f1 racing.?

i have always thought it is because the number 13 is supposed to be unlucky but some people think its lucky just wondered in any one knows for sure thanks

Answers:
Because of the superstition behind car 13, the rules say there is no 13.

Teams do not 'buy' their car numbers. The winning team swaps team numbers with the team that won the last season. if teams were allowed to buy numbers, Ferrari would own 27 - Gilles Villeneuve's number!

New teams get the next two numbers - unless they purchase another team.

Found this in a breakdown of the rules - hope it helps!
Starting number
All cars have to be fitted with the starting number of the respective driver. The FIA specifies the size and positioning. The numbers are assigned at the start of the season. The teams are always given two consecutive numbers. The World Champion of the previous year is always assigned number 1 and his team mate number 2. If the reigning World Champion is no longer competing the following year, the number 1 is omitted and replaced with a 0. The number 13 is not assigned.

Also this:
David Coulthard had an unlucky start to the season as a flat-spotted tyre caused his car to try and shake itself to bits during the race. Now might not be the time to remind our Scotsman that, although his car carries the Number 14, he is actually the 13th driver on the F1 list, but the rules state there is no Number 13 because of all the superstition surrounding it.

Hope this helps clear things up!
the same reason there is no 13th floor in hotels, its unlucky
There is no row 13 on planes either!
who wants to possibly be cursed with the number 13 after you put millions of pounds into a sport.

Plus who will buy your merchandise with the unlucky number 13 on their chest.
unlucky number.
sorry mate but i think that a bit dumb question to ask
Taxi firms dont have a car 13 either, they call 13 when there is an emergency
Isn't it obvious, it brings bad luck.
Because they probably think it's unlucky. It's been off F1 cars since the 1970's. And it will probably remain off the cars for a long time.
This year, if there had been number 13 on a car, it would have been on David Coulthard's car.
it is universally considered as an unlucky number. i myself can't really comprehend why 13 is considered unlucky, obviously i'm a fan of the number 13 but let's face it, rules as pointless as not having a 13 something whether it be a race car or floors really do exists, we just have to live by it.
The short answer is triskaidekaphobia. It's really a silly superstition and one theory suggests the number 13 is considered unlucky because, at the Last Supper, Judas, the disciple who betrayed Jesus, was the 13th to sit at the table.
I'm sure few if any Formula One drivers would be comfortable driving a car numbered 13. However, in at least one sport, Rugby Union, where the players' jerseys are in numerical order by position on the field (i.e. the Full Back is No. 15), the number 13 is used.
Owners have to "buy" the right to a number, and I am sure that the old unlucky 13 idea has something to do with no one wanting it.
I might repeat everyone else here but still: it's presumed to be an unlucky number
13 and the color green are supposed to be unlucky.
I agree with everyone else that it's just down to superstition, however number 13 is actually a lucky number in Italy so I wonder why they haven't considered using it?
I think you know why.
