Not really no, James Toseland rode for Xerox Ducati last year ('05) and he's only 25, I never saw him riding in an awkward position. Reuben Xaus however rides his Ducati in an awkward position because he is so tall. I can't see your point.
Not sure about the strange riding position, but people who have them might be 30+ because they are so much more expensive than most other road bikes.

You have to have money to buy a nice Italian sports-bike, and most people under 30 don't.
It's one thing to buy an expensive car or bike it's also another thing to repair and insure them. So basically that is pointing out the obvious. As for riding position well everyone is different shapes and sizes I think different people look different on different bikes. I've never seen two riders with exactly the same style. I don't believe the Ducati's are much more different to ride than any other bike, unless you are overweight or tall, or short. The average is how bikes are supposed to be built.

With the steel latice frame design a Ducati is much smaller in terms of width than many other bikes when assessed below the aerodynamic bodywork. The seat is smaller than most Japanese bikes and not as well positioned - forcing taller people to effectively 'bend down' to achieve a more effective riding position.

Considering Ducati is a sports motorcycle, thier for the seat is positioned to make you lean forward to enhance the air'o'dynamics. As I have a spinal injury I sit awkwardly too, thats why I ride my Motoguzzi California EV.
