Can you help me make up sretching drills for warm up in hockey?
warm up stetches and drills for feild hockey using strenght, speed, muscular endurance
Answers:
yes just do what your coach says
run around for 5 mins and arm over head and squat down 20 times
ANY MARTIAL ARTS EXERCISES WOULD BE GOOD
1) All players hold hockey stick in air with both hands and run round edge of pitch in line four or five times and once backwards
2) Slow stretching toe bends, sided to side, twists and leg stretches done in sets of 10,
3) divide players into sets of two tell first players to run down to end of pitch and wait until their partner touches them. As soon as first player gets to end of pitch partner chases them. do this as a competition say thee widths back an forth of pitch
4) one partner takes one end of Hockey Stick other partner takes other, draw a line and winner is one who pulls other over line.
Anyway that's a start keep the players competitive. even in their exercises
Hard to explain my streches but they work but what ever you do DO NOT STRECH WHILE SKATING! go next to the boards and do it. It's so easy to pull something skating and streching
Sit in the bar and do 10 bicep curls with one arm then the other whilst drinking your pint. Thats what my team does in Norfolk before our games. We even win occassionally.
You should jog for at least 7mins or a couple of laps of a pitch first then you can do what's called SAQ warm-up. You jog out about 10metres kicking your feet out in front then jog back. Jog out again backwards kicking feet out in front, jog back. do 3 mini jog steps then hold your quad for a stretch of about a sec, then jog another 3 paces and hold the other..continue etc. out for 10mtres and job back. Then continue this with various stretches. Then do some jogging across the pitch building up the speed, so once you hit in line with middle of goal you build up to 75% pace then 100% eventually. Very good warm up.
If you want some a drill place some cones in a large circle with two cones about 5ft about in the middle of the circle. Place a player on each cone including the middle ones (only have as many cones as players) then have 2/3 balls. Each player with ball has to dribble in hockey position(knees bent etc) to another player then follow their pass, keeping their head up and gaining eye contact.
