Should steve macclaren be man enough to recall david beckham considering the england injuries?

It's too late for tonights game. But, yes he should be back in the squad for the next round of games. England's next game is against Isreal (I think) on the 24th March.
I wouldn't say he has to be in the starting line up, That would depend on how things pan out before then.
You mention Phil Neville being in the squad. What about brother Gary, he's past his sell by date. Just another position we need an international replacement.
Those of you who can remember, Becks did cover a lot of defending positions down the right side.
On a sentimental note, I think he should get the 4 caps to make the century. Becks did put a lot into the England team.

The way Becks was treated is a travesty! He captained the team with a lot of success, one minute he's golden balls the next minute he's not even in the squad, He should be in the squad, even if he is just sat in the wings watching, at least he can be called on when needed (NOW)

Yeah. I think beckham should be called back. He might not be as good as other player but his passes are crucial for england.

The problem with Beckham playing on the right was that he always used to cut inside thus making our mid field too narrow.
I have always thought we would be better with a mid fielder who stayed out wide (like Shaun Wright Phillips or like Beckham used to do when he played for Man Utd) as it would give us more width.
He also tended to wander about the field which made the team lose shape.
Hence generally I was in favour of Beckham being dropped from the squad because I do not think he warranted a first team place.
That said, with no Gerrard tonight I think Beckham would make a good central midfielder - with someone else out wide.

No Beckham should not be in the squad. He has proven this with his below par performances for England, he can't cut it at international level any more. I agree phil neville should not be in the squad either. Beckham is a rubbish right winger and he isnt as good as the other central midfield players such as scott parker, owen hargreves, frank lampard, steven gerrard (who should play central instead of lampard), jenas and carrick. Lennon should start on the right and if he is out of form or injured wright phillips or pennant should be given a chance.
No he'll be more of a man by ignoring the pressure to recall him. Not good enough for Real Madrid, not good enough for England. You can't paick someone because they can take a free kick. Their are other players capable from free kicks in the squad as well. Beckham brings to much of a media circus with him. First of all as a season ticket holder at Everton Phil Neville is getting in the squad because he is playing regular football in the premier league and can play anywere accross the back four and in central midfield or as a holding midfielder. Beckham hasn't featured enough this season for Real Madrid for one reason or another so he isn't getting the games needed. But on this note it doesn't stop SWP getting into the squad. I believe McLaren should recall Beckham but i don't think he will because he will look weak. All through the Macedonia game we were crying out for someone to cross the ball in and Beckham is the best crosser of a ball in the world, and he just happens to be English. I would have him in my squad and i think McLaren needs to swallow his pride and recall Beckham
