Is there any stretching techniques specifically for basketball?
Answers:
i have been playing basketball for 10 years now, i am 21, 5'11 and can dunk. i'm latin which is strange because our people arent too athletic but aytway, the best type of excercise you can do is called plyometrics, which consists mostly of squats, this will help you up your vertical leap, which is very important if you want to soar to the hoop or just show off your ups... look into it
yes there is.
In medievil days you could be put on a table and stretched as a form of torture - it might be handy for short basketball players now.
Outside of the ordinary hamstring, calf, and quad stretches that are important for most sports, there is a hip flexor stretch extremely important in basketball that over time increases jumping ability. This is true because a large portion of jumping come from force generated through the thrusting of the hips.
Get in a lunge position with your left knee on the ground and your right foot as far forward as possible. Drive your hips as far forward as you can, while keeping your chest up. Try to get your left thigh 45 degrees to the floor. Raise your left hand as high as you can and twist slightly to your right, looking over your right shoulder and reaching over your head. You should feel a stretch in the left hip flexor as well as your abs. Perform 2 sets of 30 seconds and then switch sides.
Yes i should think so
