Are professional footballers self employed or on the cards?
Answers:
no theyre employed by the club they play for
All professional footballers in the UK are Self employed with Accountants and Agents, they are always on contracts between themselves and the Club they are signed to.
Sorry, the last respondant was wrong (how can anyone be contracted to an agent? You employ an agent.)
I can guarantee you all footballers are employed by the club they play for. Why else would there be transfer fees?
self employed
they are employed by the club they play for
i guess they are all self employ. They will have their own agent to do all the dealing for them( so call the player runner) For the club they currently playing for, just take as if they r doing some project for the club after end of contract they either look for other project or continue the same project. So they are BOSS of themself.
but im no sure about the lower div player or the semi pro.
u get what i mean.adious
remember ahn jung hwan? he's probably self employed..he played for perugia in italy i guess
Top football players cannot be self employeed as they work over 60% of the year for one employee! if they were self employeed the HM Customs and Revenue would have every Prem club in court for failure to pay employers National Insurance
They are currently classed as self employed but the tax man is trying to change this so that tax is deducted before being paid (http://sport.scotsman.com/football.cfm?i. for further info see above website, there is a great article about it.
