Why do people like football?
I think its because children are brainwashed into it from an early age. I see it everyday. Luckily my dad didnt like football and my brother and I hate it! I see the zombies every saturday getting drunk at the pub opposite (and I do go out every week!) but then spouting aload of b****** and shouting/fighting etc. Ive tried to like it, I even worked at the stadium for a time for my friends dad editing the highlights, but sadly I couldnt find any! Its sooo boring. Plus I work in a bar and you see sad men sitting discussing really sad things. Can you imagine fans of say, star trek, meeting in the street fighting over who is best the klingons or the humans?! Ridiculous. Its obvious some men have nothing else in their lives and thats all they all live for. How sad.

I agree with you! I'm pretty sure though that some guys think that football is so masculine. and they want to be like the players.(they will probably never be like them though - thankfully). And they also like playing with the idea of being in their places. like all the glory and being famous.maybe getting hot chicks.Yeah I know pretty shallow and stupid. But some people like it, and everyone likes different things, so whatever. We've got to accept that. We're different.
I like it because hot men are running around in tight pants. I get to see plenty of muscle and football is like one of the most watched sports here in the U.S. Baseball and golf are the boring sports.
agh. i never got it either. and it really sucks because my entire family (including my mom) are sports freaks and my boyfriends a sports freak and i'm always surrounded by friggin sports!
cool. i respect your opinion. u have 2 repect other people opinion
I watch football cuz i like the pyshical and aggressive contact and the big hits. I like how games changes. some games are boring, workin with highlights all the time could. i also grew up with it football
Don't knock it till you've tried..is my motto!
I like Rugby myself
get a backbone..or go save tortoises from rabies or whatever you like doing in ur spare time with no mates
i dont dont dont,
its not sad. football has a passion to it like everything. i am a huge football fan. i love the excitement, the drama it brings, the fact its son unpredictable (whod have thought villa would get a point at chelsea last week, scotland beating france). if you dont like it, fine, but dont insult people who do. im sure u wouldnt be happy if i said to you you are sad for not liking it. get a life
how sad u must be.
Your talking about American football aren't u.Not (soccer) football. If it's American football ur talking about I totally agree but I must admit I'm soften up to it although I'm not American. If it's (soccer) football I watch it because it is the best sport in the world.
It's simple the love for the game sure you never grew up liking the game neither did your father or brother so I can understand why but it take more then family to like the sport soccer fans can be abit crazy at times but its becasue they love it and if you see them fighting is becasue they simple love it I do its probley the best thing to watch your country play its an hounor to see my team play I some times want to cry when I hear the anthem play and see my boys ready for battle but its just me and thers probley more people like me out there who love it and theres probley more people like you who hate it you just need the love for the game to understand. P.S VIVA PORTUGAL
Its one of the best things in life going to the matches, when your team scores the winning goal in the last minute its better than anything
I don't know why it is so fascinating for some people, its not a very good game.
its like a "bonding" thing, its something you can enjoy, the feeling of being part of a huge crowd, all together,as friends,as one! (unless your a rotherham fan). lol
i dont know why you asked this question , but you have to know that ( the football is not just a game , it is life or more )
Assuming your talking of soccer. It's the one game that everyone knows how to play and everyone can play if they can kick a ball. You don't have to speak the same langage, know how to skate, be tall or really strong.
Is it the actual game you have a problem with, or the people who act like idiots over the game?
And exactly which football are you talking about?
Well I don't see the point in watching it at all, but playing it is good excercise and the thing is I think you sort of answered your question yourself, with the bit about people getting drunk, a lot of people will watch anything when they're drunk.
Don't agree with you. I like football, I don't get drunk, I don't fight with 'my dear' ManU neighbours, although I support Man City and I'm just having a good time. Simple as that!
.by the way, your analogy is poor - Star Trek is science fiction.
Sports are an escape from reality for many people. Unfortunately, some people take it to the extreme and it ruins their lives, marriages and relationships with their children, coworkers, etc.
-Many people use it as a social gathering to meet others and as an excuse to drink tons of beer!
-I agree football (soccer) is a very popular sport and many women compare it to the attention Playstation and Nintendo draws their boyfriends and husbands to.
-I personally love football, but I enjoy it with modesty and balance sports with quality time with my family.
Football is the most famous sportsgame in the world. i jus dont know what will happen if there is no football in this world.football is abt skill, speed, braveness, passion. football are juzzzzzz 2 difficult 2 compare wit other sports. long live EPL!!
HELLO! Football is the second most important thing in the World! I'm female, but I really want to watch football especialy when my representacion play a match, but that doesn't mean that I'm living only for that!
mmmmmmmm......basi. its a wicked sport love to watch and play it..and plus there is alot of tense in the game and i like tense
we can really hot bods on the feild and also its nice to see that human are still barbaric. we also can c really cool tricks with the ball.
I see your point. As a football fan myself, it's my one big passion. Aren't you passionate about anything? I don't agree with all those who go to the pub and drowning their sorrows. There are also too many fights in pubs between rival fans. And of course the idiots who think they know everything about the game. Me, I live for watching the game at the stadium. Yeah you get the odd boring game, but what stadium did you go to? I can only imagine it was a lower league team. Here in Northern Ireland, our national team has united people across the "divide". Sure, football has it's ugly side, but that's thanks to the a**holes who ruin it for everybody else. You can be passionate about the game but don't let it dominate your everyday lives
If we knew the answer to that we could probably solve the meaning of life!
I don't think it is your upbringing, even though both my parents liked football they could take it or leave it. Me I am obsessed. I think it is your personality. I like the feeling of belonging to a wonderful club and being part of an extended family.
On match days even though I travel the 55 miles or so on my own I know I am never alone, there will always be a red somewhere.
Not every football fan watches the matches in the pubs or even at my first pub match did I drink 1 drop of alcohol. Passion and pride, that's what I showed the rest of the pub. As long as my boys are playing I will be watching.
The Liverbird means everything to me. It's all over my car, my reg is even LFC. MY duvet cover was specially made as they don't make them in King Size, my life is planned around fixtures..
Why? Because it is what I choose. My female friends have all dropped football in the past for one boyfrined or other, but I chose football over men.
I would rather spend £20.00 on a ticket to see Reading in the cup than a night out with my frineds boozing. Now in some peoples eyes that makes me strange. I accept that. No problem with anyone who does not like football. My best friend likes Golf and trtravels to see that. I don't tell her I think she is strange or spouts a load of rubbish just because I don't lke it or understand her passion for the sport.
I embrace all differences. Whether your LFC or even - (coughs) MUFC, I respect you. You love - WHAT YOU LOVE. As long as there is a passion inside you you are alive and that is what makes us human. Differences and tolerance to accept that people ARE different are what sets us apart from the animals!
Football - Sports - Life. We all like/love/accept different things. Embrace it! Don't try and understand it.
