Why do joggers.?
Why do joggers insist on jogging on the road, even when there are perfectly good footpaths adjacent to the road? I was once told it's because it is bad for them to have to go up and down kerbs at road junctions etc. Don't know that's true, because they will do it even when ther are no junctions or kerbs to go over. Seems very dangerous to me, and especially so on these dark nights.I don't think there is any excuse for this dangerous practise. Smacks of 'hey look at me, I'm a jogger'. Can't think of any other reason.

if they want to jog on the road then fine..so long as they wear hi visability clothing.cause if you run one over it's defiantely not gonna be their fault!
It is true, it is best to jog on the road as the jogger is not going up and down the kerbs and the driveways of people's property. no jarring on the knees and lower back as the go up and down!
The jogger can always wear a reflective vest. and face the on coming traffic.
They are really stupid and annoying. If there is no footpath, fair enough, but where there is a pavement then they should use it. To say going up or down a kerb hurts your back is a load of tosh. I have seen them holding up traffic, who have to wait to go round them, rather than use a pavement. If pavements are so bad, why have them? Just shows jogging is bad for you. I suppose it's the same people as those who drive on the outside lane of the motorway when the inside lanes are empty.
Same reason you don't bike on the sidewalk, because you're moving faster than the usual traffic of pedestrians.
The roads are made of tarmac, which is 'softer' than the concrete of which footpaths are made. It seems crazy, but over hours and years of running it makes quite a significant difference.
Running on concrete is really bad for your joints - running on grass is the best. Running on the tarmac of the road is a compromise.
