What would you do?

If you knew of a person capable of making it as a footballer, but who wont because he will never be discovered?

Answers:
I dont know/understand why you think he will never be discovered. There are always trials for clubs. Contact your local clubs. Failing that if you look for any football coaching sessions there are usually people there who have connections with the local clubs and further afield. It's worth a try
poke him in the eye, tell him to buck up and go join a local club where they are scouted every couple of months!
There is no such thing as not been discovered, Football is big Business and they have talent scouts out there looking for good players, if he his capable why not go for trials in a club start at the bottom and if he is any good he will move up the ranks.!
if this person is young i would let him enjoy football as a child/youth.I have seen the academy meat markets and my young son has been to them. Its mostly sideways and backwards rubbish anyway. All the skill and natural flair of youth is drummed out of them. Why do you think england cant create ?. Paul Gascoine was the last real flair player as he refused to conform. But back to the question. Let him enjoy football in his youth and hope he is FOUND at 16.
Sorry but your story doesn't 'hold water' for me. Let me explain.

1. You say you know someone who can make it football. Ok fair enough. Does this person also think similarly or has it been brought to his attention if he didn't?

2. More importantly, does he want to excel in football and move towards turning pro, or does he want to play it socially? If he isn't serious then there is little you can do.

3. Assuming he wants to take it seriously, why do you (or he) say that he won't be discovered? If he is good (or you think so), why isn't he signing up with clubs or going for trials during pre-season?
Once he gets into 1 club (even a small one), he can be trained properly, get match exposure and maintain a disciplined lifestyle. If either the club or scouts do not recommend him to a bigger club, he can always do it himself. Just ring the club, explain who he is, where he plays and ask for an opportunity for trials.

4. Furthermore, you can always seek out a club or talent scout and recommend him to the club/scout. Or take a video of his play and send it to a club or scout.

That's why I think the opposite of you. If someone is good or has great potential, it is harder for him not to be discovered or spotted ,if he wants to take football seriously.
Good players are usually discovered very early on. Very few escape the radar of an agent, scout or club youth programme.
tell him to get in touch with Steve staunton before he (staunton ) get's the sack, cause he might save his job.(ha!ha!)
