Climbing Question?
Does anyone know the best locking belay unit to use for self-belay when soloing (if one gets in a tricky spot and needs to rope up) ?
I'm sure my ascender will do the trick but wanted to know if anyone has used anthing else that worked better.
Don't say climb with a partner as that would defeat the object!

One of the best known belay devices in the world. This is a popular self locking belay device, suitable for single ropes between 10 and 11mm. Ideal for sports climbers and should only be used by an experienced climber.
Of course the standard answer from the company, however it is a good self locker which is probably what you need. The BMC forum is good for any questions but they do tend to argue amongst themselves. Happy gragging.
Try posting this important question on a forum notice board. One that will have specialist on this subject. Do not chance your arm in getting answers from a lot lam ducks who know diddly squat about climbing equipment.
