WE ARE BETTER IN FOOTBALL (2 WC, 4 FINALS, 3 OLYMPIC MEDALS,14 AMERICAN CUPS, 1 CONFEDERATION CUP, 5 YOUTH WC), BASKETBALL(ACTUAL OLYMPIC CHAMPION, AMERICAN CHAMPION, 4TH IN LAST WC), TENNIS(7 PLAYERS IN THE TOP 100, ACTUAL FINALIST OF DAVIS CUP), HOCKEY, POLO, HANDBALL, VOLEYBALL, ETC.
WE HAVE A POPULATION OF JUST 40 MILLION AND WE DEFEATED YOU IN MOST COLECTIVE SPORTS.
YOU HAVE SOME KIND OF NATURAL LIMITATION?

I notice in some of the previous answers that people were refering to the Malvinas and the last rugby world cup. Perhaps if the english started looking forward instead of trying to bask in past glories they would be better on the world stage. Unlikely to happen though, just look at their soccer commentaries.
Well done to Argentina, they played well and deserved the win.

I would have to correct you on the Olympic bit.. England does not enter a football team into the olympics (there isn't a British football team in the olympics at all)
But if there was..We would lose,just as we do at everything else.
We are used to being let down by our National sides.

Crikey, what is the world coming too? Argentina have a good record against Scotland, but to beat England is really something!
Why are people ever surprised when we lose at Rugby, Football or Cricket when playing as an international team? And why do we make such a fuss when we actually win (about once per millenia). It's embarassing.
Did not see the game, I watched the other winning team today instead!...Poor England..neva mind though you still keeping the losing record going....

Perhaps at sport but then Port Stanley is still called Port Stanley and if you were to compare the GDP of the respective two countries you might come to the view that the energies of the UK are channeled elsewhere and youve never beaten us at darts!

Personally I believe that Andy Robinson is only 50% of the problem. The rest of it can be easily attributed to the lack of cooperation from the premiership clubs who are consistently peeved at the RFU these days.
Perhaps if the fundemental politics of the game can be ironed out then we can get back to being a team again!
It is great to see the standard of rugby has improved (especially in the Northern Hemisphere) since England won the world cup.
Argentina are playing so much better also.
However, Argentina have just beaten a poor English team (who just about everyone is beating) so don't think one swallow makes a summer. Let's see Argentina beating the Aussies or All Blacks before we really start singing out loud.
England do underperform at most sports & they are also widely detested (by the anyone but England brigade). I actually think they are very unlucky not to have won the Soccer World Cup at least three times.
Let's not forget they were cheated out of it by a certain Maradona in 96.
I'm Irish but like to see all the home teams do well, Ireland first but I still want England to do well when they're playing other opposition.
Maybe Argentina will play England in the World Cup next year. You'll probably win if they don't improve & don't get rid of Hodgson.
