Whats the most fierce derby in england?
and why?
Answers:
West Ham v Millwall: two 'vehement' areas of the largest city in the country.
Newcastle v Sunderland: local derby in maybe the two most atmospheric grounds in the country, and both clubs are very well supported.
Aston Villa v Birmingham: over the past few seasons, this fixture has earned a reputation for being eventful and downright nasty!
demolition derby figure 8 race
I was going to sa Manchester derby but i don't think that's really fierce. Probs one of the London derby's like Spurs v Arsenal.
west ham/millwall
it has to be the Merseyside derby, Liverpool v Everton. both teams have their fanatical supporters & the match is always a very close encounter every season.
Not quite a derby but almost.Liverpool and Man Utd.and it one of the most fiercest rivalries.
west ham v millwall, without a doubt!
Wycombe Wanderers vs Slough Town
.some of the dirtiest games I've ever seen.
Sunderland afc & newcastle ufc
Newcastle v Sunderland
because the cities are close together, but not in the same town/city so people don't have to live together on a day-to-day basis. and cos the mackems are bitter and sore losers! ;o)
Hull and Leeds has been a pretty naughty derby in the past.
Millwall and Chelsea or Millwall and the hammers.
It's the lower league derbies you've got to see, the police presence is less, what is shouted from the stands translates onto the pitch. And the atmosphere goes to hatred so Millwall again then
Chelsea v aseranal (or howeva u spel it) cz they r 2 of da bigest clubs
Manchester United vs Liverpool. Not just the fiercest but also the oldest and the most massive amount of successes between the two teams of all English clubs.
Portsmouth V Southampton
They don't come much fiercer than that one.
as a celtic fan looking down south the one i look forward to seeing most is liverpool vs man utd having been to a few derbies down south this is the closest one to an old firm game ive seen for passion and simple competition between fans as wel as the players on the pitch and all the hype that comes with it
As a Gooner i will say Arsenal V Spurs very bitter rivalry there.
But i'd also say West Ham V Millwall and Newcastle V Sunderland. as all these rivalrys have been going on for decades!
Liverpool vs Everton is officially the dirtiest even though the fans call it the peaceful derby it has actually produced more red and yellow cards then any other derby in the prem.
newcastle against sunderland, plainly because either before or after the game there is usually a fatality between fans fighting each other. that plus the fact the two places have always hated each other
Blackburn V Burnley
Because you can't go into the others town (with the other teams shirt on)
also because when football first started Rovers & bumley players always used to fight on the pitch.
AND, I think it was in the 80's a Rovers player flew over Burnleys stadium with an offensive banner, aimed at them, on it... now thats a way to gain respect from your fans!
