Are ex-UK army trainers the best for my marathon training.?
.Or am I better off splashing out on a pair of Nike's?
Answers:
Nike are excellent for running in.
However buy a pair that are light weight, give good support and good cushioning try www.nike.com u can design your own pair there or even better try and find a company that sell Asics there excellent for distance running and are designed specifically for runners they are often priced around the same as most Nike trainers but as said are more specific to runners needs i own a few pairs and defiantly advise them.

you get what you pay for and army trainers are cheap and nasty
Invest in a good pair of nike trainers and bed them in prior to your marathon or..suffer and pay the price.
Splash out on the Nikes or another well known brand. Army trainers are terrible, remember to get the the contract they had to be the lowest bidder so the quality isn't very good at all. When I was in nobody used them we always bought our own.
You would be better splashing out on a new pair. Go for a pair of asics.
