Why do radio 5 live sport change commentators during the same game.?
Answers:
pub break.
Sorry, no idea....
on radio as opposed to tv the commentator has to describe what is going on on the pitch and this involves a lot of talking.
Do you think you could talk non stop for 2 hours?
They usually change halfway through the first half and halfway through the second.
They usually have an ex player to give colour commentary this enables the main commentator to have a drink or sneeze or whatever.
I suspect they do it to give each team's "home" commentators air time. That way as a fan of a given team, you get biased opinions that match your own.
Maybe it is to stay fresh. Although it is a while since I have listened regularly to 5 Live I thought it a great idea that the commentators switched midway through each half. I think Alan Greene is a brilliant commentator, he can be very funny. His book is a great read. I always enjoyed listening to Steve Claridge as an expert summariser he also livens up listening to games with his humour.
Some people might dislike having to listen to Alan Green for 90 minutes likewise Ian Brown and the other commentators.
It is a well known established fact that the absolute limit for a human being to talk continuous utter shite is 22.5 minutes.
to have a breather
To give a different perspective after 22 minutes of each half.
