Mr Glen answer is incorrect. I have a Marathon chocolate bar in front of me and it is only 5"3/4' long

There is no such thing as a short marathon!
There is a 7k called The Great Gorilla Run in London every year (in Aug or September usually from the looks of it) and this last year they added one in Edinburgh. It looks like so much fun, I think I may try for next year's event. It is a fundraiser for the Dian Fossy Gorilla Fund also. Here's a link to their website (the photos are hilarious) and a quote from the website:
"Since the first Great Gorilla Run in 2003 over 2,000 runners have donned their gorilla suits with pride and walked, ran or jogged the 7K City of London route which goes past such London sights as Tower Bridge, The Lord Mayor's Building and The Tate Modern. Runners love this race. You are on centre stage - everyone focuses on you and gives you great support, and the buzz that you get from completing a race that is like no other. We know that once you've done it for the first time, you'll be addicted! That's why this event has raised over £500,000 for the Gorilla Organization (formerly The Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund)."
Good luck!
There are loads of runs in and around London in the summer. The best place to find info is on running websites, which will also give an indication whether they are fun runs or ones for the more advanced athlete.
