What do the coloured dots on squash balls mean?
There are blue dots, red dots, yellow dots, and double yellow dots.
But what exactly do they determine?

Small colored dots on the ball indicate the level of bounciness, hence, the standard of play it's suited for. A bouncier ball is said to be "fast", when a bouncy ball is said to be "slow."

Yellow-Super Slow
Green or White-Slow
Red-Medium
Blue-Fast
The dots relate to the speed of the ball. And the length of time the ball will take to heat up. The hotter the ball the faster it palys.

The blue and red dots are aimed at beginners because they bounce higher giving the player more time to hit the ball. The yellows are aimed at better players, the single yellow dot bounces higher than the double yellow dot ..double yellow dots are aimed at good to elite players as they have less 'hang time' than all other balls, hence the player has less time to hit the ball before it bounces twice.
