Who is the best openside flanker in world rugby.?
Answers:
G'day Barney B,
Thanks for your question.
For mine, it is Richie McCaw of the All Blacks and the Crusaders.
McCaw was officially announced by Graham Henry as All Black captain in May. McCaw was appointed to replace Tana Umaga who had officially stepped down from the role and announced his retirement from international rugby at the start of the 2006 season. It was long expected by the media and the public that McCaw would take the role following Umaga's retirement, having filled the vice-captain role under Umaga. McCaw's form was recognized by the International Rugby Board in 2005, as he made the five-man shortlist for the organization's World Player of the Year award, an honour won by teammate Daniel Carter. Richie is widely regarded as the world's best openside flanker.
I have attached sources for your reference.
Regards
Probably the All-Black Richie McCaw. The best that I've ever seen is another New Zealander, Michael Jones. (No, I'm not a kiwi!)
Jamie Lyon !! League rules , union sucks donkey balls
Richie McCaw.
The Western Province Skipper Luke Watson from South Africa.
I agree Richie Mccaw

I dont think in all my years of watching and playing rugby, I have ever seen a better player to the loose ball than Smith. He is a freak at it. His ability to get the turnover by being able to maintain his feet while playing at the ball in the tackle is astonishing. He would get more turnovers and penalties for not releasing, than any other player
