Why in golf are they called birdies eagles albatross?
Answers:
This basically is how rare they are to get and see!
E.G:
You can see a bird(birdies): these are really easy to get 1 under par!!
Eagles are a little rarer you don't see them as often but you can!! (2 under par)
Albatross now these are the rarest birds these don't happen that often or you don't see them that often (3 under par)!!
(Hope this helps-Happy Golfing)
A birdie means 1 under par, an eagle means two under par and an albatross is 3 under par
In a nutshell it means if you dont get a hole in one, its so may shots after that.
1 extra shot, 2 extra shots and so on..
each 1 is a rarer and rarer bird 2 c on a golf course
Because originally golf was played with hard boiled birds eggs instead of balls. Some eggs fly better than others so, say you got 2 under par or whatever you'd say ' Bloody hell, that one must have been an eagle!'. This terminology caught on and continued even though the eggs were replaced by knobbly little balls. This is all completely the truth, really , it is.
