Does any else think clubs should be forced to field at least english players per game?

do you think there are far to many foriegn players in the english game wat do you think this is doing to homegrown talent should clubs be forced to play atleast five english players every game surely this can only be good for the game

Answers:
Yes, it would be a good idea. It would help nurture young talent and help the national team. It would also probably introduce a culture whereby young players are actually coached and nurtured better.

I don´t know about 5 British players per team. That might be too hard to introduce straight away. maybe 3, but Arsenal have maybe only 1 anywhere near their first team, and that´s not good.

It would probably have to be a pan-European thing, so as no to break any European trade laws. So 3 homegrown players for every team in a particular league.

Yes, there are too many foreign imports in the Premiership. Clubs go for a finished article player from the continent, rather than investing time in nurturing young players who become legends. It´s true that certain foreign players have really enhanced the quality of football and game intelligence in the Premiership; but for every quality foreigner, there´s also a Carlos Kickball blocking the path of a young British lad. For every Bergkamp, an Emerson. For every Zola, a Ravanelli.
hehehe
does it really matter as long as they can play ball let em
most definitely.
too many n i g g e r s spoil the broth
It would help our national team but because of money I cant see this happening.
Also it would probably breach some European Law.
dont be so racist, we have an open door policy!
jobs for all, especially if its one a British person could do.
the only problem to that idea is that the UK is in the EU, and they protect moving from one EU country to another to apply their trade, so it means that, as long as the players are from an EU country, then they can play in any team in the EU. Only a change in the EU employment laws can change this.
yep,i do..there should be a maximum of two overseas players per team, these bloody people are killing our game, only here for the money...
I think there is a rule stating that you cannot have 3 or 4 non-EU players on the field for your team at any one time.. but that's a few years ago.
if u played 5 english players at this point in time at every club playing first team football week in week out it would ruin the premier league ,this doesnt affect homegrown players in anyway as they are not good enough in the next 10 years things will change in that direction as there are alot more youth programs and clubs now realise how important it is to have home grown players who give a little extra .
It might be a great idea, I was chocked last year when arsenal played a match without english players. But it is impossible to set up, everyone would say that it is racism .wich is a very sensitive subject in modern football
play your full team ive seen this rule before and it spoilt the game
a few years ago nearly all European leagues had a foreigners rule meaning that a team could field no more then three non e.u players. the premiere league in Spain still have this rule! but the e.u has become so big the rule is pointless.

i think there should be no more then 6 foreigners fielded, that is plenty and would also mean that arsenal will probably get relegated lol
Foreign players can add to the game, however they seem to have brought a cynical side to the game also (eg shirt pulling). The influx of these stars will definitely have an adverse affect on players getting into the top flight of football
definalty agreed with your additional information. thats why i agree to your question.
Hi , my answer is only my point of view! But how can English football be played without any English players(sorry i am not being biast towards the scots, welsh or irish)Ithink that football players should only be able to play in there country of birth!this would give the managers of the national sides an easier job of who to pick!! Ok Beckham is out but plays in spain, how could he fit in with the English Team after 2 days of training!he spend his whole time in spain and doesn't play ENGLISH FOOTBALL.sorry to go on a bit but is only my point of view,If i have offended anyone please accept my apolagies
Unfortunately the EU wouldn't allow this, but the FA should offer incentives to clubs who play more homegrown players. If more British coaches were in charge of top English teams, there would be a rise in British players. Maybe the FA should do something about this?
This is a difficult issue. The clubs are under a great amount of pressure to put up results, or threes a lot of negative consequences. therefore they try to get the best players they can and sometimes the best they can afford come from outside GB.

I think that UEFA has made a minimum on players from one country for the Champions league. So Arsenal for example would need a certain amount of English players to compete. I don't know if these were ever imposed by UEFA though.

With no disrespect meant to foreign players, they are in some countries now the majority. Germany's Bundesliga, the Belgian league, and the Scottish league each have had such an influx of imported players that sometimes the national players are forced out and unable to get a chance. You could say these teams have suffered as a result.

I think that Sooner or later this will have to be addressed. I think teams should have a minimum but it should be imposed gradually so as not to be immediately harmful. Teams should go back to building up young talent in their respective academies and not raiding teams from Buenos Aries to Belgrade.
I am not English, and yes!! Its a mockery of the English League to field entire teams of foreign players. For sure, the league would be dull without them, and perhaps enforcing this rule may be too rigid and not too popular. Coaches should just be sensitized to the issue and make sure they field at least five indigenous players- this should apply to other leagues as well.
You mean like Chelsea, John Terry, Ashley Cole, Wayne Bridge (yes they can play together), Joe Cole, Frank Lampard and SWP.
The EU can't make a team play anyone who comes from a EU country. But we can't stop EU nationals coming to the UK to ply any trade.
I'm not going into why clubs keep buying the Africans players. Be here all night.
Your question about too many foriegners in the U.K. game yes I do. Not so much the premiership. Though our supply of top goal keepers and goal scorers is drying up.
It's Scottish football and the lower leagues that worry me more.

Surprise the other night. Arsenal played an English player Wedenesday night. An Arsenal supporter mate of mine wondered who he was.
