Hovering cameras on Major League Soccer games in US?

When I was in New York earlier this year I watched some highlights from a Major League Soccer game. During some replays they appeared to have cameras that either floated above the pitch or were suspended on wires. The cameras appeared to lock onto the ball and give a computer game like angle. Can anyone offer a little information about this or have I imagined it. If they are real I would love to see them in our English Leagues.

Answers:
the americans do it because they have to make the game look more interesting for their people. cos no american really likes football (i refuse to call it soccer)

the camera is operation off hydrodraulic 'cherry pickers' attached to the stand, with a camera man and a crane operative.

its that simple. we dont do it hear, because we dont need it. we already have stadiums in the premiersip with 30,000+ people in them and we english already know what a quality game football is, we dont need to jazz it up.
oh yeah they are real, 'the visa sky cam'
Yeah, in some stadiums they have wires over the field with cameras on them that move back and forth across the field. (I'm pretty sure) they were first used in football (American football).

ps: I'm an American (born and raised) who LOVES soccer :p
