Is Fernando Alonso rattled?

According to Alonso there is some sort of conspiracy against him at Renault. He is convinced that the team do not want him to "take No1 to their rivals, McLaren, next season". To do this they are prepared to do anything to sabotage his chances of winning the title this year. Thus, the sticky wheel nut that cost him precious seconds in the pits in Shanghai was deliberate; the overtaking manoeuvre performed on him by his team-mate in Shanghai was done so as to "block" him ("In the same situation I don't believe that Massa would have driven past Schumacher," said Alonso); and more mischief lies ahead. Why on earth is Alonso behaving like this at this crucial time? Why would anyone make this kind of noise now when he desperately needs his team to cooperate if he is to win the next two races? Why antagonise everybody now when there is absolutely nothing to be gained by it?

Answers:
I think Alonso is not absorbing the pressure as well as Schumacher but to suggest there is a conspiracy is a little naive I believe. Renault want to win the constructors title and therefore will do everything possible to get both cars finishing in a points scoring position.

Last weekend Alonso's tyres were not performing and he needed about 8-9 laps to get them through a stage of their development before the grip came back. There is no way, given the comparison speeds, that Fissi could have held back Schumacher for that length of time. Had he attempted to do so he would have been penalised for blocking Schumacher, meaning only one of the Renaults would have finished on a points scoring position. You only have to look at how quickly Fisi ands Schumacher pulled away from Alonso do see that!

Your assumption that this years championship has been 'stage managed' by the FIA or Bernie Ecclestone to make it more exciting is laughable in my opinion. In many ways we should be thankful that Ferarri have managed to catch Renault and make it as interesting a finish as it now is!
dunno, never shaken him. :-P
I don't believe a word of it.

I agree that Ferarri have the best luck that money can buy, and that the decisions always seem to go their way, but the rest is in his mind.

If anything is rattling, it's Schumi's engine after Japan.
I think that some pressure has pushed him to some statements that were a bit out of the ordinary, but, as usual, journalists that seek the million-dollar story "inflated" all the aspects of the story, or as they say in my country, "making a stallion out of a mosquito".

The media is to blame for this. Some of the statements attributed to Fernando were simply ridiculous.
having been a fan of formula 1 since the early 80`s i firmly believe that the current season is being stage managed by the FIA so that the championship is decided at the last race ,possibly to increase viewing figures ,this will be the last year i follow F1 as its bogged down with rules and regs and the spirit of the sport has disappeared
yes. The wuss has collapsed under Schumey pressure. Oh well, well done Michael. Just proves that GP is not just about racing, but mental approach to your competitors
This is maybe the most pressure packed sport. Only maybe 25 guys get to do this at all, and only 6 of them have cars that actually can win. For two hours you have to concentrate very very hard. A random equipment breakage can ruin everthing. Or a mistake by someone else on the team.

Every F1 driver is rattled.
he is just a sore loser, thats all.he thru down the gauntlet when he made those comments about schumi.i used to cheer for him but now i can see that he is nothing but a spoiled brat .go schumi!!
Renault will always want the Constructor's Title more than the Driver's - as with all teams. I think that thanks to the events of this season he obviously can't understand why the title should be taken away in such a manner, hence some of his recent comments. I would hope that the people at Renault will realise this and rise above it.

However, I think everyone knows that Alonso will not win the last two races as Schumacher is being given the Driver's Title as a retirement present from the FIA.

This question is great for the discussion it generates! It seems that we all have plenty of fun speculating as spectators & get more than just answers. The Yahoo!Answers have provided a splendid bonus to this very exciting season. I've learned more in two months here than the previous 3 years trackside!

Poor ole Ferdie! Sure! Rattled is an understatement! He's probably borderline mentally ill anyway! The achievements he has aquired so far are phenominal but, face it, he's not got the support that Ferrari can provide Michael Schumacher!

All drivers have had ups and downs, Alonso is very good but a sore loser and Schumies just better
hahahahaha! this is what Alonso said? well haven't heard this one yet, it's gotta be a new foolish statemant from "our F1 champion" yeah? it's funny what would some people do or say when they don't get on the way the wanna be on! Fernando Alonso is not a real racer or a gentlman, as all the other racers in f1, he's arrogant and selfish idiot, so mate please stop believing that ******* ****! he's not complainning when he's winning, but when it stops - everything is distracting you and everyone is against you?
I think the tide turned 5 or 6 races ago. When Renault lost their mass damper system that was the turning point. Can he still win the Championship ? YES but he will need a bit of LUCK.
