Is there anywhere in west Yorkshire where you can shoot for free. moor land fields etc with an air rifle?
Answers:
Unfortunatly it is illegal to shoot an air rifle on public land. The only place you are likely to be able to do this without getting arrested is on private land, therefore the chances are you will be charged.
Take up paintballing, Its more fun
Look out for red flags. You can shoot there but may get run over by a tank
New laws make it very dodgy to use air rifles anywhere now.
Introduce yourself to farmers in the area you want to shoot, they will often let you hunt rabits / shoot rats on their land provided they trust you to be responsible and not damage their crops or property while you're there.
Before you go off traipsing from farm to farm consider doing the following
1, LEARN THE LAW!.Be able to quote the laws relating to airguns and stick to them
2, join an air rifle club,Pontefract air rifle club is very good and as a member you can shoot their ranges on sunday all day
3, Join the BASC(british association for conservation and shooting),its worth it just for the insurance, and membership impresses potential landowners
4. Learn the country code and some fieldcraft, impress your potential landowner with your knowledge of prey species and their habits etc, again club membership helps with this as members will take "novices" to their shoots and teach them
If this sounds like too much trouble , take up knitting, and dont bring the sport into disrepute.
Just to get the fires flaming my son who is too young to own an airgun is killing people right now in cold blood,he's playing "goldeneye" on his games console ,quite a lot of graphic blood and guts on that one.
