Why is peterborough football club called posh?

Answers:
The named derived in 1921 when Pat Tirrel, a player manager with local team Fletton Utd ( who used London Road ground ), placed an advert in a local paper for 'Posh players for a posh team'.

Fletton were previously known as The Brickies and in 1923, they merged with Peterborough to become Peterborough and Fletton United.
P*s* is probably a better name for them.
If you called a crappy team, crap, then no one would want to support it, but if you change it to posh, people might be under the illusion that there is something grand, hence the name.

Many every year fall to this ruse.
because their chances of success are thin just like Becks wife!
Because they are the upper-crusts don't you know that.!
