How about this one? I find this very odd too.
McClaren played a major part with the England team in the last world cup with chosing the team.
Becks was the CAPTAIN of the team and priority one to play in just about every game so how can he suddenly be dropped and seen as not up to the job as soon as McClaren takes over weeks later?
Either he was one of the best and should at least have a place in the team or he wasnt' so shouldn't have been taken along.
I'm in Middlesbrough and i tell you from here that every Middlesbrough FC supporter couldn't wait for the second that McClaren went, lots of talk here that even the players didn't like him.
We get rid of him only then for him to torture us on a bigger scale.

Oh man, I really can't get my head around it either. He's often referred to as a "utility player" but as far as I'm concerned he's a master of nothing. I guess what people see is a steady eddie kind of player that will allow the others around him to shine, in the same way that Owen Hargreaves does for England, and people like Lee Carsley does for Everton, for example. I don't think the comparison with Becks is a fair one because I think Beckham has been dropped for a number of reasons, some of which are not football related, but if you're asking why Neville would be picked as a central midfielder ahead of Carrick or Parker, it can only be because of experience, I guess.

What about Hargreaves? This guy isn't English for a start, is not holding midfield player and the England team have far better players at their disposal than him. But, granted he's played quite well in the last couple of games, he is doing something to get picked and picked. Personall he wouldn't be in me pub team.

As an Everton season ticket holder i can't fault the guy his work rate is second to none, he is a good passer of the ball. Don't get me wrong i don't think he is better then Becks or even good enough to get into the starting England 11 but he is good enough to get in the squad, so get off his back.
