Does tae kwon do involve the kata in some way?
Answers:
TKD is similar in certain ways to karate in that it is a striking style that was developed by Koreans who watched karate. It has kata that are so similar to karate that it cannot be denied that is where the TKD founder got them.
One major difference is that karate has subtle nuances that TKD does not. Things like cam action on blocks, ball of the foot striking surface on kicks, and other subtleties.
Most styles of TKD teach sport or point sparring whilst karate tends to focus on actual application. The difference in these subtitles is the difference between scoring a point on your target objective or causing severe physical trauma on your target objective.
Certainly this varies from school to school, so be aware of the sort of school you are joining right on the front end.
yes tae kwon do isn't all that different from karate .the kicks are more spectualr but that is about it
