What is your all-time greatest cricket team?
Any player from any era (dead or alive) counts.
Answers:
ALL TIME XI
1.B. Richards(SA) (9 hundreds before lunch - best opener)
2. S. Gavaskar(IND) (perfect technique, 10K runs as opener!)
3. D. Bradman(AUS) (99.96 - best batsman of all time)
4. J. Hobbs(ENG) (toss up with K. Miller, but 61K career runs, cant be wrong!)
5. G. Sobers(WI) (awesome all rounder)
6. A. Border(c) (AUS)(toss up with V.Richards, but border is mora aggr. capt.)
7. A. Gilchrist + (AUS)(there was a couple of others, but his batting gets it)
8. S. Warne (AUS)(no dispute - best spinner of all time)
9. D. Lillee (AUS)(Awesome new ball bowler with swing and control)
10. M. Marshall (WI)(toss up with M.Holding, but I saw more of Marshall)
11. J. Garner (WI)(My other opening bowler, devestating to face)
(12.G. McGrath) (AUS)(prob best of modern era, just missed out)
For those who think there is an Aussie bias, have a look at the overall win loss of Australia throughout the history of cricket. There is a bias, but it is because in the 130 odd years of Test cricket, there are the most successful team so far.
AUSTRALIA
1970 to 1990 West Indian team
australlia
it would have to be the west indies of the late 70's with viv richards and joel garner or the current aussie teams
Batting Order

2. Sunil Gavaskar
3. Greham gouch
4. Viv. Richards
5. Sir Garfield Sobers - captain
6. Kapil Dev
7. Ian botham
8. M.S.Dhoni
9. M. Murlidharan
10. V. chandrashekhar
11. Denis Lily
Greenidge ahead of Edrich

Botham ahead of Kapil Dev
Gilchrist ahead of Stewart (Alec)
Sobers (capt) ahead of Imran Khan
Warne ahead of Muralitharan
Lillee ahead of Snow
Ambrose ahead of Walsh
1. Matthew Hayden
2. Sachin Tendulkar
3. Brian Lara
4. Viv Richards
5. Ian Botham

9. Courtney Walsh
10. Muralitharan
11. Dennis Lilley
Two spinners and 3 all rounders to go with the exceptional bowling talents of Lilley and Walsh, Glen McGrath and Michael Holding narrowley missed out as did Kapil Dev and Imran Khan. Sunil Gavaskar could have made it but for sheer brute force as an opening batsmen I had to pick Hayden, I simply have not seen anybody with such an ability to rocket the score along early in a test match, he's a superb player. Lara had to be in there as he quite simply can score like nobody else (Hayden aside).
Viv Richards, Botham and Flintoff have all been picked because of the impact they can have on a game, if one of them were to get out cheaply you could always guarantee that one of them would have a big score.
Tendulkar quite simply picks himself, I'm sure nobody could leave him out.
Gilchrist picked himself, no other wicket keeper has ever come close to Gilchrist and his batting ability is simply exceptional.
I was also tempted to pick Waqar Younis and Wasim Akram, but the team I have picked I feel would offer the greatest variety and influence on a match.

West Indies from the 1970s to the mid 1990s
Clive Lloyd, Viv Richards, Courtney Walsh, Curtley Ambrose, Gus Logie, Greenidge & Haynes, Kalicharan to just name few.
There is no team in the world now that ever was as great as the West Indies during this period, there were simply unstoppable & unbeatable in both forms of the game. Just check their stats.
