Barclays Premiership Question? Spurs, Villa, Portsmouth fans.?
A few weeks ago, Didier Zokora blatently dived to win Spurs a penalty at White Hart Lane against Portsmouth and was absolutley blasted in the press for doing so. Thirteen days later, Gabriel Agbonlahor dived to win a penalty for Aston Villa against Spurs at Villa Park. Not only did he succeed in fooling the referee into giving the penalty, he also got Calum Davenport sent off. Why is he not being blasted for doing that? Was it because Angel missed it? That shouldn't make a difference surely? Calum Davenport has since had his red card recinded, but that really didn't help Spurs on Saturday, as he was our only non-injured central defender left in the team. Your sensible views please...

Zokora was so blatant. Agbonlahor is a young lad of extreme potential and lightening speed. I do not think he dived and I do not believe he is that type of player. A referee has a split second to make up his mind and of course mistakes are made. When a game is analysed by the so called experts they have the advantage of seeing the incident time and time again and even then they do not always agree. So what chance has the referee. I think diving is starting to drift out of the game at least in the Premiership. Last year Drogba dived all the time. It didn't do him or Chelsea any good. This season he is staying on his feet and what a transformation. The same applies to Ronaldo at Man Utd. None of the reports I read of the Villa Spurs game suggested Agbonlahor had dived. Everyone condemned Zokora however so I do not think the two are comparable. I think managers and players are starting to realise that fans do not want to see players diving even if it at times aids their particular team. I must say that one player who seems to get a lot of penalties and has done for some time is Andy Johnson of Everton. A lot of them have been dubious. He goes down very easily but no-one criticises him. The only solution is to allow the referee to halt the game as in rugby and ask for a ruling from another adjudicator. I am not sure whether football fans would want this.
They have to have the 4th man on the screen all the time so as when these things happen he immediately tells ref stop game and have a look and to stop the diving punish these guys severely I notice Pompey have had it happen twice in a few weeks
it wasnt a penalty i was there , but hes not gonna turn round and say that , he wasnt hassling the ref or anything he just gave it , the fact that angel missed is by the by really
like they say its suposed to even out doesnt make it right though but i think there was more of an uproar because it was blatant and it won you the game there was no denying zakora did it,it all seems to do with circumstances i mean the papes are a law un to them selves i still dont get how the sun can put robinson on the front and back page for that own goal there was nothing they could do,and as for decisions last nights champions league was a farce how did we not get a draw out of that game thierrys goal should have stood another officials fukup that can affect a clubs corse through a tornament all be it we will thrash them at the emirates.
