Pressure points?

Is it possible to hit certain points on the body and say for example make an arm totally lifeless?

And if yes please explain the strike- eg A hard hit ,a soft hit etc etc.

Answers:
yes. soft hit . correct instruction is very important.without proper instruction and supervision someone will get badly hurt
YES ITS IS POSSIBLE IT ONLY TAKES A FIRM PRESSURE APPLIED TO THE RIGHT SPOT TO INTERRUPT THE FLOW OF CHI AND THUS DISABLING THE BODY
Take up Karate and you will be taught properly. What you are asking is dangerous in the wrong hands. Hitting certain pressure points can prove fatal.
Yes it is possible to do this temporarily. Your body is a great machine able to make adjustments, so I have yet to see or experience anything that lasts more than 1-2 minutes. That's just me though.
A few of the strikes I know are is the point above the elbow to just under the armpit (you have to be moving) and both are strikes. They do not have to be that hard but they have to be precise.
It is also possible for certain points to be suppressed through training or conditioning for a time.
yes, there are nerve clusters all through the body.. I dont know about totaly lifeless, but you can get the "funny bone" or "sleeping" feeling from being struck.. its not that weird or flashy. its common sense.
I doubt if you could make it permanently lifeless. But it's definately possible. If you hit a nerve point on the body. You can indeed stop the nerves in that area to stop working. also blocking blood circulation can do this Compare it if you will to a water or air hose. If you twist the hose you'll cause it to stop flowing. But the pressure build up will make sure it'll straighten itself out in a few minutes.
Technically yes it's possible, however it's worthless to learn. In real fight, other guy won't stay still and let you apply it.

I perfer good old fashion knuckles sandwich over pressure point any day.
yes... extend your right or left arm...palm facing upwards so your inside of your arm is exposed (veiny part pointing up) now, from the centre of the elbow joint on this side move 2 inches down with your finger towards your handthen move 2 inches across to the outside of the arm. ((( basically the top of hte forearm near the elbow)))) either a HARD punch/knifehand strike/palmheel strike/ stamping on this part/ or elbows downwards would be good to strike this with the desired effect ( although it would not PERMANENTLY RENDER IT LIFELESS). if you need to find out apply pressure in the area described until you feel a sharp pain. you will know when you have found it. :D hope this helps :)
No it is not.

As a parlor trick it is possible to strike nerve clusters of a compliant opponent (which you will not find in a real fight).

Disrupting "chi" is bullshido, dim mak is bullshido. Meaning its a fraud.

There are many different factors that change what hurts and what doesn't. Any blow powerfull enough to give a shock to the body (hit to the head, sternum, etc.) is going to be felt whether you are going full contact or just bieng compliant.

Pressure points generally only work when you are bieng compliant. They are near impossible to pull off on a resisting opponent and even if you do manage, there is adrenalin flowing so he/she is not even going to feel it.

There are "vital areas" to strike (neck, knee, face, etc.) that cause a great deal of pain, but I would hardly call this a pressure point. The closest thing that could be effective with nerve clusters involves peircing into the body, not just a strike to the skin. This is why the stabbing of someone under the arm in prison is known to work. You are not just punching someone there, you are causing damage that goes beyond the skin with a sharp object (knife).
it is out there; there's several books written on the techniques, and it's better to be shown how to perform the technique properly by somwone who learned it than to describe it.

there are nerve centers all over the body, mostly in bundles which have a paralizing or relaxing effect when properly "activated" by a sequence of points that're touched.

it helps better when you've already subdued the opponent as a deterrent against their chance of attacking you agin.
When I was a kid still at school another kid thought it would be fun to knee me hefty in the middle outer thigh above the knee, this led to me collapsing onto him. A pressure point or simple physics? You decide! and yes I have my doubts about pressure points after reading an article in Martial Arts Illustrated (MAI) about this subject - the author said to the instructor knock me out then - he ended up with bruising around the eyes but no knock out
maybe not lifeless but can take your opponent down quickly.
