Why have villa bought chris sutton!! not even good enough to be a championship blue nose!!???

Answers:
give him a chance, o'neill knows how to get the best out of him, bruce couldn't cos he's a crap manager, was fine when he had decent fit players who knew what they were doing, but as soon as he actually had to 'manage' he was found out of his depth. is it a coincidence he wasn't a managerial success to any degree til he was given brum's open (as it was at the time) chequebook? but to get back to question, villa have bought him cos luke young is possibly out til end of season, villa need cover now, sutton's a free agent who can sign outside of window, of proven class and the manager knows how to get the best from him. also, he can cover at centre half.
From a Celtic fan Big Chris was a fantastic footballer, he had everything, but his bodys broken down now im afraid.

Still better than Angel tho
its cos martin o'neill loves him, there are now 3 ex celtic players at villa the rest are at sunderland, Chris sutton is cr@p he missed his chance at being a good striker when he turned down arsenal what a w@nker
I have asked this exact same question earlier, its absolutely unbelievable isnt it, i thought we were on the up but this looks like a backwards move to me. Hopefully its just a short term thing until the transfer window opens and then we are going after Henry and Van Nistlerooy, i can dream cant i.
I saw him play in Birmingham's 5-0 beating of Portsmouth earlier this year and he looked the business. However, like many Blues players of recent times, he picked up a string of niggling injuries and we never saw him again.

I'm sure Martin O'Neill knows what he's doing, it's not just for sentimental reasons and he will be a success at Villa.
He was good enough to be a blue, but he was released due to health reasons. Last season he was largely injured while with the blues, so it was a mutual decision between bcfc and himself that he did not rejoin the club while he got back his fitness.

In all fairness, even though he only scored a goal last season, he is a tough player who is an excellent foil for any striker with his ability to hold up the ball and play accurate passes to involve both midfield players and his strike parter. I can see him linking up pretty well with Milan Baros or Angel, as he did with Forssell last season (though being a bluenose, I hope he doesnt do well! But with O'Neill at the helm. oh well)
