Training fins (flippers) not allowed in swimming pool. Does pool management has the right to do this?

I own a pair of very short swimming fins designed by a top world class manufacturer exclusively for swimming pool training. However I was banned from using them in a London pool. It is definetely a swimming pool accessory and NOT scuba or open sea water long flippers.

I would like any advice (legal mainly) on how to react to this irrational, arbitrary and perhaps discriminating decision. Has anybody encounter a similar situation?

I need to use the fins to rehabilitate from an orthopedic injury, so I will appreciate any serious replies. Thanks

Fins I think you might have trouble making a legal challenge because they would probably justify their decision by saying its for safety and places can enact about any rules they want when they claim its for safety. Look at all the stupid rules regarding airports and stuff.
If your doctor/physical therapist wrote a note saying that fins will help your rehabilitation that might help.
If you really think they are being mean to you then you could throw some dead rats in the pool right before their busiest day of the week begins. I am saying you COULD not that you SHOULD.
managment means they control the pool, your out of luck. Most rehab centers can direct you to a pool where you should be treated o.k.
why does everyone want to sue if they don't get there way?
i believe the pool management reserves the right to have their own guidelines, a lot only allow certain aparatus during certain times, for example scuba club, even though they are designed for a swimming pool. perhaps they can suggest a time when they do allow them or suggest another venue which will be more accepting. i suppose as it is an injury rehabilitation you could go down the discrimination lines. its not fair though especially as you are using them as a rehabilitation tool. i hope you get a positive answer from them and hope you injury improves.
PIck a different place to swim. Management does make the rules.if they say that they don't allow it then you can't use them no matter how nice they are. Go swim in the lake or a pond.
Management can do whatever they want to. They have a reason for doing it.
no matter how short the fins are, they could still cut someones leg open. the pool would have to be shut, and drained. this is a health and safety issue, not a human rights issue for gods sake. consider others.
Pool management has the right to refuse anything that they want into their pool.

Whether it be for safety or regulations made to enforce what is allowed.

you will not win this in a legal battle. Sorry.
Did you ask exactly why they weren't allowed?, maybe it has something to do with a health and safety regulation.

That's the only reason I can think of anyway. Look into it a bit more, there should be some kind of loop hole that will aloow you to use them, maybe even at another pool.
"Managment have the right to refuse" unfortunately will cover a multitude of sins. If you speak to the management directly about this they may well say "you and i know that they are for medical purposes but others don't and they might start bringing full size flippers in which are dangerous, we cannot make one rule for one and another for everybody else". You may want to take it a step further and contact the head office of the company running the pool explaining your situation - they may be able to pull some strings
if i were the managing dude, it might not want like flippers kicking people but im on your side
First I've heard of this. They must not have a swim team. We use them at every practice. Try talking to them. If it doesn't work then I'm afraid it is their pool- their rules. Good luck in your recovery
i wear fins like that at my pool and they are a nessessary piece of equipment vital for our training program

and they make you go faster

always helpful
