Has anyone had a problem with the seat post bolt on the scott sportster p2 & how to stop the squeek from it?
Answers:
WD-40 works for every squeak I have.Except my body.hahahaha Try it.
Grease the bolt. or WD40 like the sweet thing said earlier. Christ! I hope you never get a real problem to deal with. How do you stop a squeak, indeed. what a question!
Scott should have suggested a warranty replacement for this. I can't believe Scott would suggest cutting off the built in clamp (especially as this is a modification and voids any warranty on the frame). I would get in touch with Scott and find out what they suggest. Hopefully the shop got the name of the tech that suggested cutting the frame, otherwise you may be out of luck. Try using anti-sieze on the following:
1) on the seat clmp bolt itself
2) on the seatpost
3) possibly on the inside of the clamp where it mates up to the frame
Some other things that squeak:
(1) bottom bracket w/ no grease on the cups (2) pedals that either have no grease on them before threaded in or are loose (3) crank arms are loose & make sure the crank bolts are greased before tightening.
